Deck discussion for standard green control

... How are you playing the O-rings with no white mana sources?

If you cut those, the Hydras and the Primeval Titans, you could slide Torpor Orbs in there and slow down all those pesky combo decks. :) OR -- Acidic Slime! Does almost the same thing as Bramblecrush (minus the ability the destroy Planeswalkers) plus you get a 2/2 Deathtouch for 1 more mana!

Also, I would switch the Naturalizes to your sideboard (you're already running 8 destruction) and save them for when you need fast artifact removal. Replace it with either more ramp/land search (Dungroves get larger faster, you can get the removal spells off sooner and more often) or maybe run something like Ambush Viper for the Surprise!Death effect.

As it stands right now, this looks more like an aggro deck with some destruction slipped in. Not saying it's not GOOD, because it IS solid. But it could be crazy. :D

Just added two Acidic Slime, and removed two Naturalize. With Harrow, and Cultivate going out, what would you suggest for mana ramp?
Thanks.

Well, Caravan Vigil is coming in, that's one possible. Traveler's Amulet, Solemn Simulacrum and Mycosynth Wellspring, too. Horizon Spellbomb and Viridian Emissary are sub-optimal, but still options. Crap, I didn't realize JUST how much ramp we were losing with m11 and Zen cycling out. O.o

I would sideboard 2acidic slime,2 naturalize and add in 4 caravan vigil as acidic slime and naturalize are situational.. then lose the isolation cell and add in viridian emissary as the isolation cell has no synergy here.. you want the dungrove elder to enter the battlefield with maximum power..

when you have the time, please take a look and comment on my deck as well:

Im not thrilled with Isolation Cell, but not sure what else I could use to deal with a lot of creautres. I was thinking of Norns Annex??
I havent even started working on a side board, but the suggestions are spot on.
Thanks.

Generally, I don't think green should worry too much about opponent's creature aggro, just focus on getting you huge beasts out on the field.. the one thing dungrove elder lacks is the trample ability.. unnatural predation for instant trample can be good.. though i can't think of anything better for now..

for sideboard, you might want autumn's veil, rites of flourishing, asceticism and fog. these are just a few options..

Isolation cells and naturalizes are eh. I think 2 more skin shifters could deff fit. They can be a major pain in the ass. good luck getting past a 0/8 or can be used offensively. Solemn Simulacrum would be pretty good in this deck. It's a shame those mana ramp walls from eldrazi are gone. :(

Actually with rotation coming everyone is gonna be playing birthing pod decks. This deck might actually run pretty well against them with your acidic slimes, beast within, and naturalize. Keep a sideboard prepared for them.

Oh, I also dont think witchbane orbs are that great. I mean, they are more for sideboard. Play it against a burn deck or a deck that uses curses.

I think Witchbane is going to wrok nicely. Not just burn decks, but library depletion will also be shut down. Lots of spells target the player to make them do negative things. Your right about Solemn, I might try to swipe one from my son. :)

Hmm, after reading the comments that came after mine... I have to agree, Isolation Cell and Witchbane Orb aren't terribly needed main deck.

So, sideboard the Cells for when you go against creature-heavy decks, sideboard one of the Orbs (leaving two to still help prevent mill/burn/discard/forced sacrifice effects) and add +1 Skinshifter & +3 Caravan Vigil.

Oh! And if it turns out that your local meta includes more creature decks than not ... well, switch things around! LOL
