I'm getting the brain juices flowing for some kind of myr based infect, prolly blue and green, I just love green for it's pump spells, so suddenly, that 1/1 you didn't block becomes a 5/5.

also try grappleing hook (note i cant spell) gives thm double strike so they will deall twice as much infect
also try my infect decks as well

I admit that I really should have more (any) green craturs, but, thanks to it's evasion and surviability, I would prefer skittles. But, an idea i had was using heage to revrse the -1/-1 counters

well i mean hydra isnt bad. but yeah hes a little inefficient with your style. um id say plague myr instead of ichor myr imo. mana rump puts skittles turn 4? well technically turn 4 with haste if you use garruk. plague myr mana ramp cant go wrong with it.
this is what i use for infect in tourneys :P

hand of the praetors fares off better than phyrexian vatmother usually. +1/+1 infect for all other creatures and poison counter for everytime you cast a creature with infect is much better overall imo.

maybe use ascetism as you are running green.

0

asceticism is ok, but if I'm not close to winning on turn 5/6 then I probably kept a bad hand. This is also why I don't like the artifacts, but I may swap ichorclaw for plague and insert some whispersilk cloak, but what should I swap for the cloak.

the shroud takes away from the pump tho. maybe slap in a hydra with it lol. 7/7 with shroud unblcokable. that srs business.

What cards can give selective invasion without asceticism, maybe I'll have to run it for the selective, and, while the hydra plus cloak idea is great, it goes against my deck design

I think w/ the higher costing stuff you're slowing yourself down. I recommend taking a leaf from ryan1028's infect deck. The speed at which this thing wins is ungodly:
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=151994

I helped build it and make it run faster, and it did fine w/o Skithy, but I'm sure he's fun to run. You've got most of what's necessary, but the problem w/ Whispersilk Cloak is that it slows you down. Takes too much mana to get equipped onto something. BoPs and Llanowar Elves will help ramp mana though. I recommend those.

BoP? As in bind on pickup? And piston sledge might work, the only problem is that all my artifacts are creatures.

Birds of Paradise, sorry. Maybe I didn't capitalize the B and P.
http://www.cardkingdom.com/catalog/item/131529

Flying Llanowar Elves that taps for any color instead of just green, pretty much. I feel that it's THE best turn 1 you can have in an infect deck. Infect, the way it's set up, is best run as speedy flying aggro. Deal as much poison as absolutely possible as quickly as possible. Infect generally doesn't have much in the way of stamina. You don't want to slow it down by trying to put alot of control in your deck. It is possible to regularly win turn 5 or 6, turn 4 if you draw the perfect hand. 7 or 8 if your opponent knocks out your creatures extremely quickly. Suggestion deck:

Drop the Deathmarks. Too specific. Instead, Duress and/or Inquisition of Kozilek, get their cards out of hand. Toss the Vatmothers, myr and vector. Boost up Garruk to 3 or 4. He's very important to get your mana ramped. You can overrun the turn after you play him. Turn 4 lethal isn't hard to do. Stinger turn 2 and Llanowar after turn 1 BoP. Garruk turn 3, untap 2 lands, swing Stinger, Vines or growth. Turn 4 put whatever down, animate Inkmoth if its been on the field at least 1 turn, sac Garruk, swing. Buff if you have any more for overkill.

So, what should I put in to replace the asp's and Vatmother's? Also, I want to keep the deck flexible, as opposed to lucky hand tactics.

0

Mana generation. That's the Birds of Paradise (BoPs) and Llanowar Elves. If you keep it at 60, it's not lucky hand. It will run the same nearly every time. Your kill conditions are the Stingers, Inkmoth, Hand of the Praetors, Phyrexian Crusaders. Putrefax and Skithy are just big late game wins. You don't need them. If you're not very close to dealing lethal damage turn 6, the deck isn't running fast enough. You need to hit every land drop possible and get BoPs and/or Llanowar out as quickly as possible. The entire point is to fly over your opponents and if they can't block use boost spells to deal retarded amounts of poison. If you can't Garruk early, then hopefully you pull at least 1 or 2 Hands and every infect creature you drop after that deals them a point of infect as well as your infectious creatures getting +1/1. The deck is based around cheap costing creatures and aggroing like a boss. Kill your opponent before they can set up a defense. That's why you need the ramp from BoPs and Llanowar, and perhaps a total of 25ish lands. Mana shuffle every 3 games as well when you play it. Need to keep the land spread out evenly as much as possible.

I think you're really wasting your time with Skittles.. these decks need to be speedy and skittles isn't that. You could sideboard him against control, but I would throw in another Garruk in his place.

Check out my tourny infect, runs like a charm: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=154850

It's not B/G, but maybe it'll give some ideas for speed.

And one more thing: the only flying I've ever had trouble with is Sphinx of Jwar Isle.. and Pistus Strikes doesn't work on him. Try Gravity Well, works a lot better. That's if you get rid of Skittles of course.

He'd also have to get rid of Plague Stingers and Inkmoths; in short, Gravity Well is a horrible choice for a deck like this...also if a deck like this hasn't won by the time the opponent drops a Sphinx, the game is over unless you have more creatures than the opponent...

0

is that your personal opinion? what would you put in? The problem with virelent wound is that, most of the time, it just flops against Valakut, U/W control, B/U control. The only standard niche' it fits in is against Kudotha red, and to a lesser extent, early elves.

In your opinions, how many garruk's would you run, if 4, what would you take out?

0

I would run only 3.. I mean you can always kill them off by making chump blockers or using his ultimate if you have more than one in hand so 4 isnt too much either.. I just personally think 4 of any planeswalker is too much.

0

Also, try testing with Unnatural Predation.. it does great things with Phyrexian Hydra and might let you get through with some of your other dudes as well.

0

If you draw into another Garruk, you simply Overrun as soon as it's reasonable to do so and play the 2nd the next time you've got the free mana to do it. If you have the spare, animate Inkmoth, cast Garruk again, untap Inkmoth and something else, swing like a boss. Garruk is incredible mana accel, and you can Overrun the turn after you play him for nothing mana wise. He makes an infect deck run so smoothly and quickly it's really not even funny. I'd drop the Hydras for Putrefax. Yes, he dies end of turn, but it's a 5/3 trample infect haste. Overrun w/ him, that's probably game. You can spare a Groundswell or 2. 8+ boost spells like that is plenty. Vines and Growth are your 2 better buff spells here for the most part, 2 more from Groundswell just means you'll likely have 1 every hand no matter way.

No Hand of the Praetors? He is a boost spell himself w/ the added bonus of being an Infect creature; the +1/+1 to Stingers and Inkmoth is wonderful (note that the boost doesn't go away at the end of turn), and you can spam that last poison counter without swinging, if need be; I'd drop some boost for him (preferrably Groundswell, as it tends to be inconsistent except in a Landfall deck; I tried Groundswell w/ Infect, and it simply is a bad choice, because you never seem to drop a land when you want to give your creature a boost)...

...and I may be a little biased, but I agree with Arkas about putting in Putrefax instead of the Hydra for the following reasons:

It's true that both can be dealt with better than the black creatures; Doom Blade handles both, but that's what Vines are for. Growth doesn't help this scenario.

Lightning bolt can also affect both; Vines are also for this, but you aren't always going to have a Vines in hand. Growth also helps these, but the 3 damage still resolves, it just isn't lethal for either. However, on the Hydra, it makes it a 4/4 indefinitely. Sure, the Putrefax goes away at the end of turn, but it is already hasty AND has trample, so the opponent has to respond NOW, and is anticipating a Vines (though I tend to cast Putrefax when they are tapped out OR use Garruk to untap 2 Forests for the boost instead of sac'ing him, as it already has trample and would get more of a boost from Vines). The Hydra on the other hand doesn't have Haste or Trample, so it isn't an immediate threat; Bolts make it smaller AND chump blocking makes it smaller, and since it doesn't have Trample by itself, chump blocking it is rather logical.

I also don't understand Gravity Well in the sideboard, as it is rather counter-productive; your main creatures that you swing with are flyers, and with Gravity Well on the field, they could be blocked by any creature. There's a reason BoPs are an amazing 1 drop; they fix mana, ramp mana, AND provide a flying blocker when needed. Therefore, if an opponent drops a pesky flyer, a BoP could block it to stall their attack for another turn. However, your opponent is usually going to be leaving THEIR flyers open to block, so flyers really shouldn't be a problem for this deck.

0

Those 3 sideboard slots are best reserved for cards like Duress (though Duress NEEDS to be run at 4 with this deck, because control tends to be a problem for this type of deck); you side this in and take out your removal spells, as control decks don't use many creatures. With Duress, you pluck their counters and removal spells from their hand. Memoricide is great on the sideboard, though I'm not sure I'd playset it, as you have much better things to do with 4 mana than stopping the opponent (Garruk and Hand of the Praetors). I'd run 2 or 3 of it instead, and board them in only for combo decks, as they rely on only a few cards to win; remove those from them and they are screwed.

0
Posted 17 March 2011 at 02:25

I also would mainboard 2 of the Doom Blades and sideboard 2 of the Go for the Throats; in the current metagame, Artifact decks are everywhere, so playsetting GftT makes no sense. A 2/2 split on the other hand, DOES make sense (with mine I run 2 Doom Blades and only 1 GftT, because with the new block, Artifacts are more common right now than Black; however, 2/2 is just as reasonable).

@ryan1028 Thanks for all the tips man. I added 3 hands and 2 putrefax, removed the groundswells for 2 bear umbras and removed gravity well. I Put duress in the sideboard. What should I do with the phyrexian crusaders, should I mainboard some, all, sideboard all, some, or remove and replace. for now, crusader is off sideboard, 2 in mainboard.

Crusader lets you get past red and white decks and they can't stop it. At all. If that fails, you have a 2/2 first striker, and once they see that you're buffing it if they don't block, they'll block it at all costs. I feel 4 is necessary, but you can get by w/ 3 probably if you don't like it as much as having 1 more of another card.
