Deck Description

[u]Basic Idea[/u]
After seeing how many of the 'standard' mill cards where pauper legal I simply wanted to know if a good pauper mill deck was possible.

[u]Tests[/u]
I have tested this deck against other pauper decks. The decks I tested against are a mixture of Control and Aggro and the result are recorded in a spreadsheet. If you're interested in details from the spreadsheet, feel free to ask.

I'm open to all suggestions and ideas that may help to improve this deck.

How to Play

Milling your opponnent is only half the deal, staying alive to celebrate your victory is the hard part with this deck. Creatures can be blocked using [[Augur of Bolas]] or [[Merfolk Secretkeeper // Venture Deeper]] after they have done their work. [[Jace's Phantasm]] can even go beating your opponent and don't be shy using it when the situation allows for it! Dangeour creatures can be handled using [[Doom Blade]], while your sideboard adds more control for the price of slower/ lesser mill.
[[Chronic Flooding]] should be used on your opponnents special-lands while Curse of [[the Bloody Tome]] simply mills for 2 cards/ turn.

Deck discussion for U/B Pauper: Mill

Ghoulcaller's Bell might be better than Shriekhorn. While Ghoulcaller's Bell might mill for less per activation (only 1 per activation), Shriekhorn is limited to how many times you can activate it (it only has 3 charge counters, thus 3 uses).

You may want to consider Jace's Erasure and Curse of the Bloody Tome as passive mill. Jace's Erasure works nicely with Thought Scour and Pilfered Plans.

If you can get your hands on some, Counterspell is better than Mana Leak. Counterspell was printed as a common in 5th Edition, thus it's legal in Pauper.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I'll sideboard "Ghoulcaller's Bell" and "Curse of the Bloody Tome".
"Jace's Erasure" and "Curse of the Bloody Tome" where both cards that I was aware of but I think they might be to slow. Some testgames should tell....
"Counterspell"is one of the best cards but I want to try to keep this deck modern legal. If I didn't want to keep in this legality "Grindstone" or "Millstone" would also be an option instead of "Shriekhorn".

You play shriekhorn, so consider echoing truth in your sideboard :D

I have added it to the sideboard. Ghostly Flicker would also be an option as it allows to use creatures with ETB Effects (Archaeomancer and Augur of Bolas) again.
