I think I would only use Counterspell to protect my commander and there has to be better options for that!

Why does everyone put Hardened Scales in Ezuri? If I'm understanding it correctly it only puts one extra counter on one creature one time. Is that correct?

I like Crystalline Crawler, Wild Beastmaster, and Triumph of the Hordes.

Infinite combo is fine if you aren't a d-bag about it. Some EDH games go on so long everyone just wants someone to go infinite so they can start a new game. Exquisite Blood is ten dollars though, which might be why it didn't make it into the budget deck.

Impact Tremors since you are making tokens. Arc Lightning or Boiling Earth sideboard against other token decks. Collateral Damage maybe? Goblin Darkdwellers cast 3cmc instants or sorceries from your graveyard when you play them.

Chandra, the Firebrand is only like $3. Her negative loyalty ability copies instants and sorceries. You might also want to check out the ultimate on Chandra Ablaze (~$9).

Thanks man. I was looking for a Zurgo Helmsmasher EDH deck and I didn't even think of giving him equipment. It's the perfect way to compensate for how fragile he is.

You can also run Crackling Doom if you splash red.

I've seen people -1 comments suggesting non-budget upgrades to budget decks. I haven't played since Ice Age and I just got back into MTG after Khans. For a player like me, the budget deck is a foundation to build on, so I really appreciate the non-budget suggestions. I wish people wouldn't -1 them.

I wasn't aware of Diplomacy of the Wastes when I suggested Mardu Charm. You're right, Diplomacy is way better for this deck and you don't have to add another color for it. I don't know the new cards so I probably shouldn't be offering suggestions, but isn't Obelisk of Urd pretty high casting Cost? Without ramp your opponent can get out Anger of the Gods three turns before your Obelisk and you wont have much mana for Return to the Ranks. Plus everything returned will have summoning sickness or am I wrong about that?

Either way it doesn't matter. Mardu Charm or Diplomacy of the Wastes requires just as much land in play as Anger of the Gods. The difference is Mardu Charm slows your deck down considerably.

Nevermind, Atheros didn't work in this deck. Alesha was to keep the Ankle Shankers in play but there isn't enough room for her. Would rather have Butchers and another Ankle Shanker. Raider's Spoils in sideboard in case opponent has good planeswalker removal.

My current deck has Bile Blight in sideboard and add another Sorin, Ankle Shanker, Raise the Alarm, and a land. I've got Ponyback Brigade instead of Bloodsoaked Champion but after seeing how this deck plays I'm liking the Champions more. They will generate tokens from Mardu Ascendancy and come back if someone nukes them.

I really like Despise as a cheaper alternative to Thoughtsieze. Splash red and you can run Mardu Charm to take out the Anger of the Gods. It has a much higher casting cost but it's like $19 cheaper than Thoughtsieze and it isn't rotating out in October. If you splash red for the charm you can also run Alesha Who Smiles at Death for two dollars each.

Thanks man! I'm making this with Bile Blight in sideboard and 3 Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. She's less than two dollars.

What do you think about Atheros, God of passage? It's like five bucks, but Theros is rotating out soon so I don't know if I want to invest in it.
