Lambs to the Slaughter

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sorceries (7)

Instants (3)

Artifacts (4)

Land (20)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

A self sac deck

The idea is to sac everything.
The ways I can do that require blasting station (optimal choice), carrion feeder, viscera seer, or bone splinters while Blood Artist does Blood Artist things

I added in cauldron haze for double the effectiveness of a sacrifice.
Say I have blood artist, blasting station and a golgari thug.
Im gonna tap b and play undying evil on him, sac him with blasting station, opponent takes 2 life and I gain one. Thug comes back with a counter and untaps blasting station. I then tap 1b and play cauldron haze on him and sac him again, he now comes back with a -1-1 counter on him and untaps blasting station again before dying instantly from the -1-1 counter, leaving me with the option of sacrificing something else. The damage output is quite large with multiple copies on the field.

this is the first one ive put together, so let me know what you think please, thanks

How to Play

The best thing that I can see happening is this:

I have Blood Artist and Blasting Station out.
Play Geralfs Messenger (2 life)
sac him with Blasting station (2 life)
he comes back (2 life)
play Cauldron Haze on him
sac him with Blasting Station (2 life)
he comes back (2 life)
Sac him with Blasting Station (2 life)
he comes back again because undying kicks back in (2 life)
Sac him with Blasting Station (2 life)
play unearth on him
he comes back (2 life)
sac him again (2 life)
he comes back (2 life)
and finally sac him again (2 life)
This process right here lands for a grand total of 24 life lost for my opponent on one turn. I could also have more Blood Artists out or more Unearth or Cauldron Haze to play for even more damage. But yea, this is the best possibility I see.

golgari thug dosent do much good for the deck because the dredge wont really help you and you do not get the card thats he brings back back until next turn...

Indeed, Thanks Man

Maybe Mortician Beetle? Abyssal Persecutor is also an idea: I ran a deck where I used him for bashing, then had a bunch of ways to sacrifice him to end the game quickly.

Oh, also, Jinxed Idol.

originally I did actually have mortician beetle, but I ended up replacing him with Viscera Seer. My only concern is having a balance between cards with sac abilities, cards to be sac, and cards that benefit from the sac. I really like the idol idea but my concern is it will force me to sac in certain situations that I might not want to. thanks for the ideas, il think about it

Oh hell, I know what you're missing. "Return creature from your graveyard to _____". Use all your persist/undying stuff, let 'em die and THEN bring them back all over again.

Here's some decent ones. Take your pick.

* Cadaver Imp
* Call to the Netherworld
* Death Denied
* Disentomb
* Disturbing Plot
* Empty of the Catacombs
* Morbid Plunder
* Oversold Cemetary
* Raise Dead
* Orzhov Charm

White also has cards that do it, but they tend to be more expensive and return stuff to the battlefield instead of the hand.

* Immortal Servitude
* Marshall's Anthem
* Reya Dawnbringer
* Debtors' Knell

also think about putting Necroplasm in there. You get more dredge, you get to kill your opponents' stuff and against the right decks he'll send the blood artists into overdrive.

well I did have golgari thug in here for the sole purpose of dying just to a put a creature from my graveyard back on top of my library. But I do know of a black card for 1 mana that will disentomb and put them onto the battlefield, its called Unearth, a pretty old card. It works only on creatures with CMC 3 or less, which fits perfecty.

I have never seen the Necroplasm before, that's a really cool card. I don't know how I feel about it in here though, wouldn't want to be killin off blood artist or khalastria... its probably got a place in here though, somewhere.

Caretaker would be boss in this deck (provided the right compliment of critters). Thoughtpicker Witch is fun too.

I like the thought picker witch for sure, not so much the caregiver though. thanks for the input!

Caretaker? It brings back all the creatures (power 1 or less) that die in a round. Infinite Sac! To each his own though...

yea but he is 5 mana to get out, plus they don't come back until the end of the turn. not a bad card by any means, but without putting in a ramp of some sort, I don't think he would see much play. thank you all the same

I could but dude, pawn of ulamog is a huge sac spawner. I sac a creature and he gives me something else to sac in return... I don't know if I can give that up.

I like killing wave a lot, my friend beats me quite often with it. im not sure of its place in here though because i have creatures that i don't really want to die... but it has a very strong finisher capability. il think about it, thank you

possibly blood funnel? maybe barter in blood?

My deck is based off of death too. However it has a few ways to win. One being the blade. http://www.mtgvault.com/mmmjkx2/decks/phobus-and-deimos-vintage/ Genis chamber and skull clamp give a but load of cards.

Seriously. Blood funnel, killing wave, and barter in blood are your friends. Maybe grave pact, and then perhaps it that betrays/grave betrayal.
Probably grave betrayal and grave pact for sure.
I would take out viscera seer. Add 2 and 2, then I would also take out kalastria highborn, add 2 more grave pact. then ratcatcher or bloodline keeper or a token generator of some sort. I would probably take out 2 bone splinters as well, adding debtors' knell.
Also another thing I might do if you don't want that is take out 2 bone splinters and add 2 bloodline keeper.

I will make a deck that is based off this, using mine and other suggestions, to see what you think then post the link here

i don't disagree with you by any means, i think i would want to make a different deck entirely to support your idea. in all honesty, im not sure why this deck is so popular, i think it would get stomped by most decks, agro specifically and burn decks. its very cheap to make, so i guess that could be why. i just enjoy making decks :p this deck does have great combo potential but requires a decent amount of time to get started before anything really happens. I think most decks, even those with limited removal, would put this one to bed before anything happened

Agreed. This deck needs speed. I think you would be better off with some sort of draw mechanic in there. IE "Otherworld Atlas" or " Slate of Ancestry" The best option would be "skull clamp" (vintage only). Attach it to one of your 1/1 creatures it dies. you draw two cards. With skullclamp and gensis in my deck with a card in my sideboard. I can cycle thru my deck many times without overdrawing. I beat someone the other day starting at 20 life and started him at 500. I ended up stealing all his creatures too. http://www.mtgvault.com/mmmjkx2/decks/phobus-and-deimos-vintage/

So it does have actual white, but just a little for Sorin. I think you will like it. It spawns tokens so you can sac tokens for blasting station. It also serves to control, using grave pact. Then grave betrayal gets you their creatures to sac, and debtors' knell does it again! Same with sheoldred.

Nice work!
I think you could try switching out Reassembling skeleton with Bloodghast, and run a few Undiscovered Paradise or Ghost town along with it.
Another card you might be interested is Unruly mob, it get's bigger and bigger as you sac...
Another thing do suggest is that most of your vampires are cards that benefit from sac-ing, so you could switch in a few Mortican Beetles for Kalastria Highborn (maybe 2?)

This reminded me of my own bloodghast deck :)
