This deck is the perfect balance of spells and creatures. It has a lot of potential burst damage and mid to late game sustainability. Purphoros is a 4 of because he is essential in putting your opponent on a short clock and he is hard to kill. 25 lands seems like a lot for a deck like this, but the scry from Magma Jet and Temple of Triumph helps to ensure that you won't get flooded or screwed, and also serves to make sure you hit that 5th land drop for Assemble the Legion. Boros Reckoner is maindeck because he stalls agressive strategies like RG and RDW which are going to be the decks to beat in the new meta. Havin a few of them in hand slows them down until Assemble takes over. I know most people usually use more spells for Young Pyromancer, but again the scry helps to dig for those cards.Burning tree emissary seems awkward in this deck, but has been an allstar in testing becuase you can use the extra mana for any burn spells in your deck and play an early young pyromancer.The sideboard is mostly spell based, with boros charms as an anser for Anger of the Gods and supreme verdicts.
This deck can sometimes steal game one, by stalling aggression with Reckoner and and dropping an unanswered Assemble the Legion. Purphoros does a lot of work with Molten birth, and sometimes if you're lucky you can curve perfectly into a double turn 6 molten birth.Example:T1 shock opponents dork if youre on the draw, or play temple of triumph and scry. T2 burning tree emissary into pyromancer or burn spell.T3 reckoner or molten birthT4 purphoros, or molten birth again.T5 Assemble the legionTurn 6 magical christmas land double molten birth with young pyro and purphoros out, total of 12 damage for ETB triggersI recommend killing elvish mystic whenever you see him, because cards like Kalonian hydra and stormbreath dragon can be problematic because our burn cant handle 4 toughness creatures. Sideboarding is pretty straightforward, Profit Loss gives you reach against detention spheres and can sometimes help to get a 2 for one if youre opponent is using keyrunes and echantments. If i am playing verdict decks or anger of gods decks, Post board, the burning tree emissaries are taken out for boros charm becuase they dont work well together.Peak Eruption has been amazing post board. You get so muh value from it if you get young pyromancer (blow up a land, burn 3 , make a token, pass and scoop.) also amazing against decks using chained to the rocks, a card im not a huge fan of because of the card Im using haha.Enjoy!
