Deck Description

I loved Unexpected Results from the get go and wanted to see if I could make it work!

How to Play

Updated: 5.31.13
Questions, concerns, complaints, and suggestions are welcome but please explain yourself.

Basically sit around twiddling your thumbs for turn 1,2 and 3 playing Farseeks or Verdant Havens. A farseek turn 2 means a potential Unexpected Results turn 3 which could be anything from an awesome Omniscience to an underwhelming farseek but it's a risk worth taking! Nicol Bolas and straight beatdown are the primary win conditions for game 1. D-Sphere, Supreme Verdict, and Thragtusk are obvious stall tactics if I have no Unexpected Results in hand.
Ral Zarek is good for untapping a land with Verdant Haven on it so I end up with 4 mana from 1 land plus he shoot Thragtusk and most aggro creatures.

I'm considering cutting an Omniscience and putting in Obzedat's Aid. Let me know if you think this'll be worthwhile.

Note: Do not tell me about Enter the Infinite. Mostly because it's a 12 drop that's useless if I can't combo out that turn and I can't think of a faster way to lose myself the game, with Thought Scour and other 'target player draws' effect in standard, it has no real place in this deck.

(Sideboard updated 6.20.13)
Sideboard: Resto Angel, Loxodon Smiters, Supreme Verdict and Merciless Eviction get sided in against agro decks (Especially junk regenerate/indestructible decks. Dispel, Negate, Curse of Echoes, and Jace are for your average control and the rest are there for midrange or whatever I think deserve it.
Ground Seal, Nevermore(calling acidic slime because my land base is vulnerable early game), Progenitor Mimic, and clone are for reanimator.
I usually pull 2 Unexpected Results, Omniscience, and an Increasing Ambition out of the mainboard in game 2 and on for more consistency and I usually lower my curve as stated above. From there it varies on what specific decks I'm playing. (Bant control is different for Esper or America just like Gruul Aggro is different from Aristocrats.)

Again, Comments would be awesome!

Deck discussion for Expect the Unexpected Result

Considering that your deck idea is getting stuff in play cheaper through unexpected result, i'd suggest ye to stay off the door of nothingness, as it needs 10 colored mana after being cast, so you need 10 lands which can in total bring atleast 2 of every color, and as you hardly have mana accelleration (like mirari's wake and such) that will take a while.
Beyond that, i like the idea :)

Well not to poke holes in this comment but this is a standard deck so I would be a fool to run Milari's Wake and I am running Farseeks, Verdant Havens, and Urban Evolution which are all mana accelerators. The two of each color isn't the issue, in fact it's quite easy to accomplish (especially when I usually have 14+ mana at my disposal by turn 10.
And I also don't need to rely on casting unexpected results to get my big stuff out, it just comes out sooner that way.
Thanks for the comment though!

I like this deck a lot. I too am a huge fan of Unexpected Results. As you might have seen I've posted my own deck idea around it.

Omniscience is really nice indeed. But are only 2 enough to ensure you will get it? And I'd go for more recurring for the Unexpected Results once it is put into your graveyard. I'm thinking of Archaeomancer.

Verdant Haven is an original solution in this deck. But does it work? In the decks that I ran with Verdant Haven it turned out it being very slow and not a great addition. What is your experience on this?

I've found Verdant Haven very useful for two reasons: 1) When I first made this deck I only ran Farseeks for early mana accelerators (thinking I would hit a land or two with Results) and so there were many game when I would have to wait til turn 4 before casting most things. With Verdant Haven I effectively have 8 early ramp spells even if 4 don't thin out my deck. Now you might say that that doesn't allow you to play things before turn 4 still which is true and brings up the second point. 2) The "gain 2 life" ability is extremely useful (especially with so many aggro decks running around in standard) and can help me survive the extra turn to get a Thragtusk out or a board clear or something.
There is the obvious downside of revealing one with Unexpected Results which happens and is unfortunate, however, they help a great deal keep me alive in the early game when this deck is the weakest.

When I first started play testing this deck I tried running 3 Omniscience and found that I would end of having two in my hand and wishing the other one was any other card. So I dropped it down to 2 and find I still hit it pretty frequently, especially hardcasting it.

I've thought about adding a utility Snapcaster Mage to get Results back or board clear again if I need to or anything else because there are many sorceries in this deck. Even just flashing him in to block an unsuspecting Geist of St. Traft goes a long way toward getting me to the late game. But I'm still undecided.

Thanks for the comment! I look at yours a little later and let you know about the corrections you suggested.

what about chromatic lantern instead of verdant haven its better for mana fixing and also it is mana ramp

I would much rather run Chromatic Lantern over Verdant Haven (especially with acidic slime being played in Reanimator) but with standard being so dominated by aggro decks every addition bit of life is vital. Detailed description above.

You're welcome and thanks!
This is my pride and joy right now for getting Unexpected Results to be a competitive deck and I'm going to run it til the duel lands go with Theros.
I'm probably going to turn it into a janky ramp deck with Worldspine Wurm, Progenitor Mimic, the New Garruk, an any other fun green cards that come out in M14 and Theros.
