Deck Description

I've always thought Tamanoa was an underrated card.

I'm looking for some help getting this deck to the Modern-playability level (or as close as possible).
Any questions, comments, or critiques are more than welcome, so please do!

How to Play

Primary Win Conditions are Ajani's Pridemage, Searing Meditation, and Manabarbs.

The painlands are used to trigger lifegain effects. They are sometimes, rarely but sometimes, an issue if I just can't find a Tamanoa but the can tap for colorless so it isn't like I'm getting screwed out of a land (like City of Brass would).

Creatures: This is a creature-esque Tamanoa build.
Tamanoa is the linchpin of this deck. That goes without saying.
Soul Warden is a great turn 1 followed by an Primemate but is also good for general lifegain triggers. (and infinite Exarchs=infinite life.. lol)
Ajani's Pridemate can become HUGE with Tamanoa and the painlands. That plus Manabarbs or Lightmine Field is just silly. Can easily be a 10/10 on turn 4.
3 Birds of Paradise are for mana excel, obviously, and can really push the deck to the next level. I'm considering adding the 4th.

Enchantments:
Idyllic Tutor (although not an enchantment) is very useful to get the right enchantment for the deck I'm playing against.
Searing Meditation is ridiculous in this deck if Tamanoa's out. Otherwise it's useful spot removal for manadorks, bob, snappy, or just about anything else.
Lightmine Field shuts down swarm decks swarm decks, weenies, or Splintertwin style decks (they can make infinite creatures but can't attack with them because of the sweepers)
Manabarbs is obviously a backbreaker for many decks and with Tamanoa out I'm unaffected by the bee stings.

Planeswalkers:
[Edit] I was playing the new Chandra but I realized she was too slow.
Ajani Goldmane is general lifegain and putting counters on things. I don't think I would ever really make the Avatar though.
Ajani Vengeance is great for controlling the opponent because he can make the down a land or a key attacker/blocker. His Ultimate is a game ender and his -2 is Lightning Helix. Enough said.

Other:
Well of Lost Dreams is for card draw, obviously, but the fact that I can tap the painlands for colored mana and trigger the card draw is amazing.
Magma Jet is useful in the early game to get lands (or not get them depending on the opening hand) or to topdeck the right stuff in the late game.
Reverberate acts primarily as a counter spell for counterspells (or to throw a storm effect back at someone) and the one-of Naya Charm is always useful somehow. Bolt and Helix are obvious good burn that get better with Tamanoa.
Browbeat is a recent addition, drawing 3 cards is nice but I would only ever cast it with tamanoa out if I could help it so if it's 'countered' then I don't think I'll be hurting too badly.

Sideboard: (This is where I want the most advice!)
Scavenging Ooze is good against graveyard-based decks and Ion Storm would be sided in with it because of the higher number of +1/+1 counters.
Blasphemous Act is for Aggro/creature-based decks and can be silly with Tamanoa out.
Spiteful Visions and the Swords are for more controlly decks (and any decks that are of those colors) and Ancient Grudge is for Artifact based decks.

Again, Please comment! I can't say it enough!

That's true, if I end up making this a Legacy deck I'll give it some serious thought. Thanks!

For those who don't want to read the whole description, I don't like the Balefire Lieges. What should I play instead of them? And any suggestions for the sideboard???
Thanks a ton!

I would get rid of essence warden since the only other green creature you have in the deck is Tamanoa. Otherwise I really like the deck, its not every day that you see a Tamanoa based deck. You have my like good sir.

Yeah, I changed it slightly to add 3 Birds of Paradise and 2 Browbeats. I think they're pretty good switches and brings my curve down a bit too.
Thanks for the comment! :)
