Deck Description

A deck to give creatures deathtouch, and easily clear a path to the opponent. I realized in the middle of making this that there aren't a whole lot of amazing cards that are type 2 legal, for this idea. I am making it to be type 2 standard, as of the end of the month, when the Zendikar block will be taken out, so I did not add basilisk color to this deck, or prodigal pyromancer.

I wanted to add shimmer myr to go along with painsmith, but I don't know what I would take out for it.

If you have comments for changes, I am open to suggestions.

Deck discussion for Type 2 Deathtouch Deck

Interesting deck, but definitely a challenge to build at this point. I agree that shimmer myr would be nice but I'm not sure what you should take out either. I know that you should definitely give yourself 4 dragonskull summits though. Good luck with this deck and hopefully Innistrad will be nice to you. If you could, please give me input on my goblin deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=229571

How do you plan on taking down indestructible creatures with deathouch?

Also since you have very little to really boost up your creature I would suggest Grim Lavamancer over Spikeshot Elder.

You may also want to change up the artifacts you are using, since running the same number of equipment as you are creatures you are often going to end up with tons of equip and nothing to equip it to. Maybe add in some small artifacts that can also buff up our Spikeshot such as Signal Pest?

Thanks for the comment. I haven't thought about how to deal with indestructibility yet. If you have an idea, i'm open to it. Grim Lavamancer doesn't seem a lot better than Spikeshot to me because i don't have easy ways of getting things to the graveyard, and that seems more limiting than Spikeshot's "power of 4 or greater" thing. I'm all for a cheap artifact that gives boosts to creatures, but something with battlecry won't help. I would have to attack and of course tap both signal pest, and the spikeshot. Once it is tapped, i won't be able to use the spikeshot's ability.

to put in shimmer myr i would take out 1 of each artifact. that way you still have the same ratio of artifacts to creatures.
