The reason U/W Delver was so dominating was the ability to control the board while small evasive creatures carrying powerful equipments killed the opponent. With the rotation of SoM we lost the main Controllers (Mana Leak, Vapor Snag) and the equipments (Sword of X and Y). The Izzet offers an alternative: instants and sorceries. Use them to shock with Guttersnipe or draw with Lunar Mystic or pump with Runchanter's pike or create creatures with Talrand. The aggressive side of Izzet comes to a head with thundermaw hellkite and hypersonic dragon, both crashing in for a significant amout as soon as they land, with a little upside.
