Deck Description

A second attempt to make the best Jund deck. I've seen a lot more control decks recently, so decided to go with a slower version of Jund. This game is still capable of often winning games very quickly, 4 copies each of Farseek, Keyrune, and Dawntrader Elk make turn 4 Thragtusks very common, and early Huntmaster and Oliva are very dangerous, especially when preceded by discard.

Deck discussion for Jund Control/Ramp

I would switch dawntreader elk with borderland ranger and make it a 2 of. Also I highly recommend Disciple of Bolas. He gives you a ton of draw. I would also switch 3 Lilliana with 2 Garruk Relentless and a 1 Garruk, Primal Hunter. I would also up the Olivia count by one just because she is such a massive powerhouse.

All in all, this is a really cool looking deck. Just needs a few minor tweaks.

I will have 1-2 Olivias in sideboard. I'll think about Disciple, need to see how well it does. Liliana is exactly what I want in this deck. She searches up land, can remove opponents creatures, and her ultimate is pretty achievable and allows me to take over the game. Primal Hunter would be good here, I might add some. Relentless is overrated in my opinion, it dies to searing spear and when it's flipped it's vulnerable to pillar for a turn, not to mention that occasionally it can't flip without dying. Very good in some decks, but not great for this one. I will playtest with both Relentless and Primal Hunter though.
I like Dawntreader Elk more than Borderland Ranger because it puts the land onto the battlefield, and I like the full four because this is really intended to be a ramp deck supported by discard. I have a more traditional Jund Midrange deck also, that one plays Ranger, Garruk, and three Olivias. This one is built for a better matchup against control because it's ability to get lands on the table fast and its discard allow it to continue to attack and dominate after control plays its cards that normally stabilize the game.

Ill save you the play test primal hunter is awesome relentless Is bad
Lilliana of the dark is bad
You new some early dreadbore and mortars I stabilize right now zombies laugh at your thragtusk and kill you

Why is drainpipe vermin doing here? He's not good at all
Not sure i dig the full 4 keyrune i run 3 and still am not thrilled to see him every time

Mind rot is also kind of weak

Vermin and mind rot are to help me against control decks, there have been a lot recently and Jund Midrange decks often struggle against them(at least the ones that are built to handle Slaughter Games)Probably should put them in the sideboard though

Use cavern it doesn't matter if you not tribal name thragtusk (well name beast but you get the point)
That's hard to fight through if you just keep dropping them that's what I do

why not make the theme more inclined to zombies, black red green has some great zombies, especially gravecrawler and lotleth they combo pretty well

i agree with nicolbolas, what is vermin doing there, you want to let your opponents cast a free loxodon smiter? :D

however i was suggesting that instead of going midrange with this jund, try to add in a little bit more speed to help you stabilize earlier

is lilianna there to just get lands and help your X spells?

I don't get why everybody is so obsessed with control? My gruul deck burns through resto/snapcaster/thrugtask control like hot knife through butter. Last FNM i killed such a control deck 2:0. I mean, what can Thragtusk do against rancored, giant growthed/bloodrushed hound of griselbrand? Same thing with the huntmaster. I was playing my G/W, opponent was flipping his huntmaster until he got wild defiance+ rancored, charmed and giant growthed fencing ace in the face for 17 dmg double strike...
In my meta game it's gruul/reckoner/fling that crush everybody - they're lighning fast...
