this has all the right elements of the real infect modern deck, but the consistency is not there. this deck would likely not win a match at an FNM in its current form.

it helps against any damage based removal, and it absolutely is the most prevalent form of removal in Modern. yeah, Path and Maelstrom Pulse are around, but thats what your Vines are for. the deck plays blue for access to Invisible Stalker, which is invaluable in games where your opponent plays creatures. this mana base is fine. yes there will be clunky draws. there is not a good way to fix mana, keep a budget, and not lose tempo. thats why fetch lands are expensive.
turn one Elfturn two: Land, swing with elf, Groundswell, Groundswell, Mutagenic Growth. 11 poison, no red.
Im not even going to read that wall of text. I have bot Pauper and Modern Infect built. Im not here for your advice, I know how the deck works. Removal is the enemy, which is why this deck needs WIld Defiance. and there are literally no modern games decided by a snapcaster mage dealing 14 damage. all this does is prove that you dont know what youre talking about. this mana base is fine.
Simic Growth Chamber is a dollar or more, so using the rancor argument, its not budget, and the tempo loss from fetch lands that play your lands tapped is too much to even consider. this deck is about being fast and winning before they do anything, in ANY version. its too fragile to be anything else. even if SGC wasnt a dollar, its tempo loss is also too great to be effective. most of these lands come into play untapped, and thats usually going to be good enough. If you think that infect decks need to wait until turn 5 to "combo" then youre just wrong. this deck runs Glistener Elf, Mutagenic Growth, and Groundswell, just like every other infect deck, and is therefore a turn 2 potential kill, with a turn 3-4 lifespan. this deck does not survive a long game.
well, its a burn deck that can win as fast as turn 3, Second Rite is a decent backup plan against the decks that mainboard Courser and Scavenging Ooze for incremental lifegain. they never see it coming, and then I board it out when they plan for it. its more for headgames than anything.
no. its counterproductive to the point of the deck, the rite is simply in there as a one time blowout if the stars align
I run a one-of Second Rite in my Modern Burn deck. its suprisingly effective at times.
what does searing blood have to do with searing wind?
Ult Chandra for Axe....gross....
Chandra, Pyromaster is a $6 card because it has been printed in two core sets in a row, and for no other reason. she was $18 before she got spoiled in M15. The format is not restricting her at all. Phytotitan needs help to be good, and that means it is a mediocre card, at best.
because in the Standard metagame right now, Anger of the Gods is in about half the decks. that does not bode well for Phytotitan
saying thinkgs like "this card is awesome if its given (X) ability" is a typical argument from a player who really wants a card to be good. the counter argument to it is "this card is good, unless my opponent has (x) removal spell"Anger of the Gods and Magma Spray both invalidate this card. and 2 power blocker does too....I think they had a lot of unused design space on this one, and it could have been very good, instead, its an OK limited card.
it is a 6 drop with 2 toughness that you have to commit another card to to make it better......that is not the recipe for a good card.
Chasm Skulker is a very real card. Phytotitan is bad. a 7/2 with no evasion is a turn 6 timewalk for your opponent, which likely means you die on turn 7.
yeah. its not perfect, but its something
phytotitan is pretty bad......and Life's Legacy is a sorcery, so that hurts its playability too.
the wurm doesnt hit his guys anyways......
there isnt much that can be done to a land base in a two color deck and save the budget price.
there are two separate ban lists for EDH. One is Wizards list, which governs multiplayer, and is considered the default ban list. the other is www.dualcommander.com. This one is the governing list for 1v1 EDH tournament play. your playgroup likely uses the Wizards list, but any single player tourney with prize support is likely going to use the Dualcommander list (alternately known as the "French ban list"And original Ob Nixalis is worse than this guy in EDH, theres not a chance this gets banned.
