Deck Description

I have to admit I'm REALLY disappointed in Dominaria United, the upcoming set.
Forcing multiple colors via Domain brings down the quality of limited, Enlist as a keyword is a huge mess, while the phyrexians didn't get a single keyword of their own in the whole set!

This deck stands as a tribute to the flavor the old phyrexians used to have, and to their malicious mechanic majesty! Both actual phyrexians and non-phyrexian cards (with much very phyrexian flavor) included!

This is a Budget Deck (BD for short). It is meant primarily for casual play, and its estimated mid value is aimed to land between 10 and 20 US dollars at most. Take this detail into consideration when browsing the deck!

I mostly use MTG Vault for my own private projects nowadays, but feel free to comment or request a deck of your choice. I've loved the Vault so far, and I like that they are still improving on it, as well as I am improving on my English language skills.

So, if you like what you see, consider checking out some of my other budget-y work from the link below.

How to Play

So, yea. All glory to 'Ye Olde Phyrexia'!
Drop some bad boys to fuel your other bad boys! Rinse and repeat as necessary.

'Flavor' is the keyword here: all cards have been considered with their names / creature types / abilities combined to make the most out of your phyrexian experience! Some card arts and flavor texts might differ from this flavor, but you just can't win them all you know?

Use the sideboard to modify this deck to compete better against different opponents! You must ensure that the phyrexian glory ends up in all worlds!

Statistics: (out of 5)
- Deck Speed: <><><> (How quick the deck is?)
- Creature Focus: <><><><><> (How much this deck relies on creatures?)
- Creature Size: <><><> (How big are the main creatures of this deck?)
- Card Synergy: <><><> (Do the cards of the deck help out each other well?)
- Card Value: <><><> (How much card advantage can you get out of your cards?)

Pros:
+ Can turn death into advantage.
+ So tasty flavor you could almost eat the cards!

Cons:
- Winning is quite dependant on a few key cards: Phyrexian Ghoul, Swarm of Bloodflies, Essence Harvest and Malefic Scythe. Outside of these, it is quite hard to ensure your victory.

Deck discussion for BD: Phyrexian Perfection

Dominaria is supposed to be a 4 set cycle, featuring "spring", "summer", "autumn" and "winter"

You'll have to be patient for the "winter" set :(

Maybe I do, but still I REALLY wanted phyrexians to have some kickass design of their own.

There is the 3/2 phyrexian zombie for BB.
It's a hint that the zombie tribe will be expanded by phyrexians, and it hints that we are going to see aggressive drone like phyrexians first, and then we will probably get connected abilities during autumn.

Speaking of the future.
During the next three sets we are likely to see the last time shifted cards be reprinted.

That means decks will be built around them, and that things will change fast economically.

Tarmogoyf has been a nice example of this.

But economies will crash based on what's in the time shifted set and what was "futurized" in future sight.

I don't think tombstalker has been reprinted yet, but I may have overlooked it in m2.
Gurmag angler might have won by being cheaper, but being more available might suddenly change how people view tombstalker.

In pauper we will get the entire "familiar" cycle back, pauper might be unphased by this at first, but when modern is trying to break it, surprising innovations will suddenly make the other familiars relevant again. That means that the old versions will suddenly have value as "bling" because the top players will compete at looking cool by playing the oldest versions, so money in the pocket...

Are YOU prepared for it ;)

Study the timeshifted and future sight lists hard and there's money to be gained.
Slivers will see a revival at one point.

I think this is where the slivers and phyrexians merge, becoming the eldrazi. The eldrazi got the hybrid traits of these two groups. They got the "legs" look at old sliver legs and eldrazi legs. They got the assimilation process of the phyrexians, the queen hive mind of the slivers.

And don't forget that the slivers were breed by a phyrexian sleeper agent.
