Deck Description

Following out process in the last deck, 'A Beginner's Bestie' (linked below), this deck attempts to be a very cheap and very simple way to begin playing the game, while allowing its player to have a plenty of ways to develop the deck (and most importantly, have fun)!

This is a Budget Elder Dragon Highlander deck (BEDH for short). It is meant for the Elder Dragon Highlander format, a.k.a. Commander. If you are not familiar with the format, I'll link it below for you.

How to Play

This EDH deck allows you to play in a very newbie-friendly manner, while building an army of truly frightening size!

After knowing the basic rules as well as the basics of Elder Dragon Highlander game mode, this deck doesn't require much knowledge of this game to play. It is suggested to go through the cards with a more experienced player to make sure its player understands what the deck's function is all about. I'll help you all here with some details you should know:

- VIGILANCE. Vigilance is a keyword ability. A creature with vigilance doesn't tap when it attacks, allowing you to use it both as an attacker as well as blocker. Just remember that you can only attack once each turn!
- FLYING. A creature with flying cannot be blocked by creatures without flying (or reach). This is a handy ability to have, especially in standstill-scenarios!
- TRAMPLE. When attacking, a creature with trample can deal any excess damage left over from blocking creatures to the player or planeswalker it is attacking.
- DEFENDER. Creatures with defender cannot attack. Simple.
- LIFELINK. Whenever a creature with lifelink manages to deal damage to a target, you'll gain life equal to the damage dealt this way(, usually an amount equal to the lifelink-creature's power).
- HEXPROOF. Creatures with hexproof cannot be the targets of spells and abilities used by your enemies. You can use this also retroactively: Granting a creature hexproof AFTER it has been chosen as a target causes the spell or ability to fail.
- INDESTRUCTIBLE. Indestructible creatures cannot be killed with damage or effects that say "destroy". This includes deathtouch, but not sacrifice (or exile, duh).
- ACTIVATED ABILITIES. These can be pretty hard to grasp first. Activated abilities are effects that can be manually activated at any given time. These abilities can also be used at any moment, even during an opponent's turn, if not mentioned otherwise. Take the Ironroot Warlord for example: You may pay 5 mana to create a 1/1 Soldier token at any given moment. Stampede Driver is quite similar: You may 2 mana, discard a card from your hand and tap the Driver to buff up all your creatures whenever you want. Note that the Driver's ability can't be used multiple times in a turn since it requires tapping, nor it can't be used before the Driver has recovered from summoning sickness!
- CREATURE TOKEN. Last of all, not all players know what creature tokens are. Creature tokens function pretty much exactly similarly as your everyday regular creatures, but with a couple of exceptions: You'll put them onto the battlefield only when an outside effect tells you to do so. A good example of this is Maja, the deck's commander: She creates a 1/1 Human Warrior creature at your command whenever a land hits the battlefield under your control (and you control Maja, of course). Additionally, whenever a token leaves the battlefield, such as dies or is returned to your hand, it just vanishes, never to return. Tokens can never leave the battlefield and return afterwards.

...and since we mentioned tokens, just between us, you can use the below to print some tokens of your own. I measured them to be pretty much exactly the size of a regular MTG card if you print them on an A4-sized paper.

Below are some rough statistics by me on how this deck should approximately function. You can consider pondering these if you think you'll need them.

Statistics: (out of 5)
- Deck Speed: <><> (How quick the deck is?)
- Creature Focus: <><><><><> (How much this deck relies on creatures?)
- Creature Size: <><> (How big are the main creatures of this deck?)
- Card Synergy: <><><> (Do the cards of the deck help out each other well?)
- Card Value: <><> (How much card advantage can you get out of your cards?)
- Level of Complexity: <> (How hard this deck is to properly play?)

Pros:
+ Can create huge armies of tokens.
+ Good at ramping up some mana, so you won't run into mana-trouble so easily.

Cons:
- Vulnerable to mass destruction effects. Be careful, and try not to play more creatures than you need at any given moment!
