I feel that you are missing a one turn drop.
Not sure what to suggest, though.

Northy. I need a deck from you.
Please.
Budget, of course.
I want a well rounded mono white deck that has a lot of answers to decks.
Namely, a good amount of removal.
Maybe not a deck that will win a lot of games...but a deck that will make it hard for your opponent to win.
In other words, a deck that makes your opponent truly earn his hard fought match.

Good luck if you take up the challenge.

Pillow fort? Sorry, I don't mean to be annoying if I am. I'm just excited for it and wondering if I should expect in the near future.

Yes, a Pillowfort deck.
I am building a deck of every color, to buy. For me and my wife to occasionally play.
I have a green land destruction deck already.
I have a black (wall of blood) sac combo deck already.
I have a blue bounce deck already.
I need a red deck.
I need a white deck.

I figure for the white deck to make it a pillowfort style deck.
A deck that can somehow survive land destruction, bounce, combo, speed, everything.
Just an aggravating deck to try and win against is what I am after.

I can't build a good version of a mono white pillow fort style deck because most of the good cards are expensive:
Ghostly Prison, over 5 dollars
Windborn Muse, over 1 dollar
Swords to Plowshare, over 2 dollars
Etc

Cheaper stuff is like Oblivion Ring. Journey to Nowhere. Disenchant. Banisher Priest, etc.

Can't wait to see Northy's version of it.

you should do dragon tribal for red, can be surprisingly affordable if you're not trying to do dragonstorm combo

for example...

Hey Northy, im back after a long hiatus! Sooooo, control isnt played much in standard, but i think i broke it. Check it out if you want to see a standard control brew! You could also turn it into budget by taking out dual lands and a couple other things! Thanks Northy, and keep on being amazing!

Hey North
Could you make me a deck, Standard Budget Blue White Control Green Control deck focused around Sage of Hours.
Thanks if you can

blue white green control seems like a messy hodge podge. A standard control deck can(and in my opinion should be) built without Sage of hours. You can sideboard it, But just thinking theory in my head. you put it down turn 2 and if you save spells that proc Heroic you will get an extra turn what maybe turn 4-5 depending. And what are you going to do with that extra turn? you have to use your cheap targeting spells to proc Sage which could have been used on a Favored Hoplite. IF I were to use Sage of hours I would probably work him into a W/U casual Modern Heroic deck. where you could use blanket spells that will proc all creatures on the field. Roar of the Kha on Isochron Scepter is the first thing that comes to mind(don't ask why, I like Mirrodin). Brave the Elements. uh... there are a lot more. BUT that's just me.... But now that I say that would Icochron proc heroic? technically it's an activated ability of the scepter so now I don't know. Anywho. I would still do the same concept with or without the scepter.

It's just meant to screw around

Horizon is right, but the sage isn't very good to be honest, Walk the Aeons decks are far more fun, reliable and quality banter to screw around with

RandomDecks wanted the Sage of Hours deck, so he will get one. No matter how derp it will become.

Sage of hours works nicely with bioshift and kalonian hydra. Not exactly budget tho.

Kalonian hydra wont be much now that it has rotated

I knw it will be screwed up with the colours I choose but it don't matter I just wanted to play with a deck that makes sense in a special way, plus I could probably get a good laugh out of it.

yea it's going to be different. that's for sure. But hey North, i've got a Challenge for you. Modern Black Tokens. I'm scrolling through some cards and I don't even know where to start. I feel Waste Not, and Endless Ranks of the Dead could be pretty fun in it. But besides that I've never seen a mainly Black Tokens

0

I take that back. Forget everything I said about black tokens. Budget duels! My wife likes aggressive decks and has goblins now. And I like whatever. Just something you think would be balanced against a fast aggro deck.

Goblins vs bogles

0

That does sound nice, Gothy.
Goblins are straight, crude, and to the point.
Bogles are sneaky, magical, and full of mystic.

0

and they test nice which is very important to goblins!

0

I really adore the idea, but there aren't too much Bogles around...
Hmph...

0

Bogles are best friends with enchantments though, I should know my beloved bogles often go to war in ethereal armour on with rancor in their hearts

You could do goblins vs. Soldiers. I have a deck called swarm and overcome you should look at. I haven't built but yet it's just an idea. Minus the cliff top retreats.

As you wish HorizonBlue! Soldiers vs Goblins it is then!

But Northy! You have a big budget elite deck to do as promised

0

Yes, but I have a lot to do. I can't do everything at once. I would say that the 1000$ modern deck will be completed in few days. Like, I've got 8 deck orders right now...

0

Honestly I'd jump the modern to the front just to placate that rather angry response

You are right. You are right.

0

But forget the budget, just make a powerful modern deck, in competitive players' eyes its not the price its the quality and consistency

Any idea on what kind of soldiers? Artifact soldiers,a lot of the Kor Soldiers work well with artifacts. BUT how well would an artifact deck hold up against Goblins. W/G Soldiers is uncommon and would be cool with abzan falconeer and Hardened scales, Reap what is sown, couple heroic creatures in there. Just curious. I know you are busy with other decks

0

the legacy soldiers deck, it works a bit like Stax in vintage and is surprisingly cheap and easy if you ignore certain lands

0
Posted 18 January 2015 at 21:10

Would recommed dropping the Generator Servants for Elvish Mystics. Prognostic Sphinx instead of Master of Predicaments, and possibly stubborn denial or savage punches instead of temur charm. Also you should definitely put in temur runemark instead of awaken the bear once the site updates in a few days since temur runemark is in FRF

I'd actually suggest this as a decent starting point for a new player, but I'd nudge them towards R/G which is amazing

1

Glad to hear you think that way!
I just wonder that does this deck bear too hard abilities for the newbies? Of course there are different kinds of starting players, I know, but still...

0

The new players that come to me usually have a basic knowledge and just want to get to tournament level with me, I guide them there using easy decks if thats what they want to start off with, or I chuck them in the deep end if thats what they choose. About to take some of my 'students' to a team event, just got to get their decks ready, for the deck I would cut the blue, put in some more powerful rares, lower the curve and improve the mana base and midrange plan, voila they come to a tournament after learning the deck
