Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Weenie Swarm

Maybe a little bit more mana ramp would do good, in form of map the wastes.

But looks great, and I think it'll work great too XD

Seems way too dependent on the Sigil Captain. If they were to remove it, those 1/1s won't put up much of a fight.

How would Honor of the Pure work in conjunction with the captain? Would they get the counters then get +2/+2 or not get them at all and become 2/2s? If it's the first option, I would add them in to make them a threat without the Captain.

I would also look into running Lingering Souls. It's only 50 cents, and all you have to do is run a few dual colored lands for black to utilize the flashback cost. Iirc, a pro tour player did this in Innistrad season while running azorius spirits and ran 1 swamp for Lingering Souls. It worked a lot better than you would think.

Also, you could run Gavony Township. It would make all your creatures threats overtime, and has great synergy with Hardened Scales. Unfortunately, it's 2.87, but still bearable. I would only run as a 2 MAYBE 3 of anyways.

well its not completely reliant on sigil captain... i would argue overrun would be one of the game enders

For those 1/1s to be any threat it is. As for Overrun, Idunno maybe just me but I would rather have a consistent army as opposed to a single 1 turn hope to god it kills army.

Honor of the pure would cause the creatures to ETB as 3/3, negating anything that Sigil Captain would accomplish. I think the list is fine, but certainly wants Gavony to help with the endgame.

also, Abzan Aristocrats is a pretty real deck, and the biggest creature in the list is a 2/2. dont underestimate the power of 1/1's in force.

there is a -2/-2 to all tokens card in DTK that would screw this deck in the face

Added Reclamation Sage to the sideboard.

Also, since this deck is not standard, I'm more worried about getting hit by AEther Snap than that thing.

Honor of the pure gives +1/+1, so they ETB as 2/2, just to be precise.
And yes, the captain's effect won't work:
HotP has a static effect, while captain has a triggered ability. Static effects are applied before triggered abilities are. So the captain will see a 2/2 and will ignore it.
Same will happen for example with Captain of the watch!

Also i think that despite this fact Captain of the watch would work well in this deck, it bolsters the majority of your creatures alongside the token produced by Nomad's Assembly. I'd cut increasing devotion to 3 or 2, and replace it with the captain.

The Captain's tokens won't get buff up from Sigil Captain.

i know it was explained in my previous comment Northy.
Despite of that i think it could be a nice addition. Because it buffs:

- his own tokens
- falconer
- traveler
- sigil captain
- Nomad's Assembly tokens.

And they also get vigilance, which is nothing to sneeze at.

I think it could be more effective in a lot of cases than increasing devotion. After a BF wipe for example, would you prefer a 3/3 and three 2/2 with vigilance or five 1/1?

Anyway, if you want everything to work in synergy with sigil captain, okey, CoftW doesn't fit.

I think your just missing the point that this deck is built around Sigil Captain. As has been stated many times before. That's why there are no blanket buff in this deck. Now Rally the Peasants might work as somewhere in there as it's a fair bit cheaper than Overrun. If you want Vigilance add Brave the Sands and keep the Synergy the deck has built. A battlefield wipe is something that you just have to think about. Control the Wipe and Add Martial Coup if you have the budget for it. It will wipe all your Sigil Captains out but you will still get 5 1/1 creatures after the fact. My non budget version can win by dropping Martial Coup. If you have Murder investigation on a morphed Hooded hydra and Wipe with Coup you are getting 15 1/1 tokens on the board after the wipe. You yourself said it. Captain of the Watch Doesn't fit.

Man i got the fact that the main idea is feeding the Sigil Captain, but i made a proposal that i think still make sense. This said, is a suggestion or an idea and i was simply explaining why i PERSONALLY would give it a try. That's all.
And i carefully read comments and didn't find the "As has been stated many times before".

My "doesn't fit" was conditional and related to the fact you just want synergies with the sigil or not.

But saying "you are missing the point", well it sounds a bit too strong to me, since my idea was not: "hey take your deck and throw it out and just listen to me". I just suggested to swap 1 or 2 cards ;)

Anyway, no problems, we are here to discuss i guess! Good ideas in the final part of your comment, i could use them in some way, thanks!

I could see Abzan Ascendancy having a place in this deck.

too many tokens for it to be really good, and the buff only applies to creatures on the BF when it hits. Its not worth the slot in this deck to make a few creatures a little better.

Cathar's Crusade could be used as another win con If the Sigil captian isn't enough.

This is an awesome budget minded version of the deck I built. Kudo's Kudo's Kudo's here's a link to the original if anyone else is interested.

Sundering Growth might be a better choice than reclamation sage. you could populate a 1/1 and get more benefit from Sigil Captain. Other than that. you always out do yourself.

I also build a deck like this but the focus is on the tokens:

http://www.mtgvault.com/4xem4n/decks/budget-deck-token/

i like the combination of the masses of tokens and the seraph of masses
