Deck Description

Welcome to the NorthernWarlord's Budget Decks -series!

These decks are meant to inspire you and your playgroup to create simple, cheap decks and challenge each other! Can you and your friends find out who can dominate the battlefield by spending as little as possible on your cards?

The EDH Budget Decks are a bit different from regular decks. These bad boys have a total of 100 cards in them and are meant for the Elder Dragon Highlander (EDH) format, which is also known as the Commander format. These decks also have a bit higher budget than the regular Budget Decks: their average deck value should be somewhere between 30 and 50 dollars, including the deck's commander.

How to Play

Raff Capashen allows you to devilishly surprise your opponents by dropping in some devious artifacts, sagas and legendaries. Use the surprising advantage to ensure victory in the long run!

- For a deck like this, card advantage is everything. Numerous cards let you find whatever you need, whenever you need.

- Use Raff's ability to surprise foes! A sudden Myr Battlesphere brings a whole armada of blockers with it, while a sudden Mageta the Lion can ruin your opponent's board if dropped in just before your turn. An instant speed Meteor Golem can screw up your opponent's plans just when they think they are safe!

- You have held the game down for long enough? It is time to smash your opponents up with a deadly army of thopters and other hard-to-block artifact creatures. Keep Bident of Thassa and Thopter Spy Network handy for some extra cards, and keep an eye out for The Antiquities War to unleash the true potential of your trinkets and baubles.

- Remember to save mana up for counterspells!

Deck discussion for EDH: Sudden Steelshaping

Hello! I have an Ishkanah, Grafwidow in my collection, and I'd like to know how to make a budget tribal deck for Spiders.

Not entirely sure if this is where I should ask. I am trying to craft a cheap deck involving either Overgrown Estate, or Dark Heart of the Wood. I was interested to see what you could come up with or suggestions for what I could do with them.

Other cards I already own that can be added into it without cost are
x2 Vraska, Golgari Queen
x2 Riftstone Portal
x3 Splendid Reclamation
x2 Life From the Loam
x2 Maelstrom Pulse

Hmph... I could assume that you would like to use cards that let you toss stuff into your graveyard.
At least Stinkweed Imp and Golgari Thug could be handy cards for a deck like that.

Hello, me again! Just something I wanted to recommend for this deck (Not sure if it fits the budget, but who knows?) is Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle. With every historic spell cast, you return a 3 cmc creature from the grave to the field! Most decks in Azorius are susceptible to board wipes once they resolve, but with Teshar it at least softens the blow.
