Deck Description

So, this is my first Standard deck that I've ever made. Please help me come close to perfecting this. I usually play Legacy and such restrictions are actually very fun.

Clearly, this is an Abzan GWB deck focused around the Outlast ability. +1/+1 counters are all about this deck and ultimately making even the weakest of creatures very powerful over time.

How to Play

Playing this deck is very standard and should be very self explanatory. However, to give it some detail I'll go over it. The Abzan Battle Priest, Mer-Ek Nightblade, Ainok Bond-Kin and Longshot Squad are all the units that are spreading effectiveness to every creature; giving them a wide array of abilities to be formidable. Tie that in with Ajani Steadfast giving counters to all the creatures per turn to insure I get the counters out even if I'm low on mana. Hardened Scales increases the counter effectiveness to near perfection and speeding up the enemies demise. Utter End is for some basic removal and I chose it over Hero's Demise because it can target permanents; so enchantments and artifacts aren't a problem either. Finally High Sentinels of Arashin is there to add some real power. With all the counters I should have on the field it'll be a flying creature that'll be a real powerhouse if left unchecked; can also give out counters but this is not truly why I wanted it.

The cards I was(am) skeptical one are Pheres-Band Tromper (since he doesn't have outlast, but can generate its own counters just by attacking), Herald of Anafenza (the Outlast ability is a bit expensive for my taste but it's casting cost is low), Incremental Growth (adding extra counters are always good, but the cost again is what makes me upset. Perhaps Reap What Sown instead), Abzan Ascendency (adding a counter is awesome, but not sure if the spirit thing is working well for the deck) and thought I really like Anafenza, the foremost, I'm not sure if she fits either. I don't see negative effects of her, but wondering if there could be a better spot for her.

Deck discussion for Abzan Outlast

Replace Ajani Steadfast with mentor of heroes. Instead of abzan ascendancy use (gets one +1/+1 counter gains protection from a color of your choice) and CUT OUT LONGSHOT SQUAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
