So, a friend of mine has a similar deck, and she chose not to have fog effects, but used extort from rtr to get the needed protection from creatures.

I like the Idea, but you should maybe move to more general removal and maybe get away from Madness. Also, but just my own experience, Thing in the Ice is not fast eneough to be relevant.
I put it together and won every game except for one, because somebody casted Abzan Advantage and I didn't draw another Vortex.
