Deck Description

If other decks can splash red, then so can I ;). Let's see what Dragonmaster Outcast and Dragonlord Kolaghan can bring to the table. So here is my take on Esper Dragons with some flare! Suggestions are welcomed and appreciated, but please read the description first to understand how this deck plays and remember that this is first and foremost a control deck, not a creature deck. Please give the deck a +1 Upvote if you like it :)

How to Play

First let's start with Narset Transcendent even though many have suggested that we do not ;). She is a 4-cost planeswalker that comes out early and immediately can start giving you an advantage with extra spells. It's true that she isn't as consistent as Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip, but he is much more vunerable than she is and if you can protect her long enough to get out her emblem (3 turns) then the game is yours.

Dragonlord Ojutai is my favorite dragon in the deck and I try to get him out as soon as possible. You can wait until you have enough mana to counter a destroy/cancel attempt but I usually put him out as soon as I am able. If he survives the initial play then protect him because he will give you great card advantage.

Dragonlord Silumgar is a great offensive creature that has the added bonus of stealing a creature or planeswalker from your opponent. I always wait to play this card to take the best advantage of that ability. I also used to have Silumgar, the Drifting Death in this deck which was a great way to control tokens, but since the dragons come out later in the game tokens are generally not a threat unless they come from Hangarback Walkers. If you see one of them being played, make sure to bring in Virulent Plague and Crux of Fate from the SB.

Dragonmaster Outcast at T6 is pretty much going to end the game in the next few turns. If she comes into your hand early then plan to save some counter spells to protect her. Don't play this card unless you can protect it. Its almost worth mainboarding Negate to help keep her on the field. She is insanely good in a control deck!

Dragonlord Kolaghan is the piece de resistance in this deck of dragons. If you can get her out right after Dragonmaster Outcast then you have 5/5 dragon tokens with haste appearing onto the battlefield at upkeep. And the minus -10 life opponents pay to play another creature with the same name as a card in their graveyard... that's just plain evil. Muahahaha!
