Deck Description

This is the 2nd revision of my Boros deck from the pre-release draft for Gatecrash. I have used the cards available to me, there are a few things I would like to change but for now it seems to hold its own. This revision made the deck standard legal.

How to Play

It's Boros. Hit fast and hard.

- Creatures:

Look for the one and two drop creatures in your opening hand, and maybe a spot removal or two. By not playing creatures early in the game you seriously undermine the effectiveness of this deck. Try getting the Battalion mechanic in to play as fast as possible. Skyknight Legionnaire is a wonderful 3 drop creature if you managed to play a 2 and 1 drop.

- Instants:

Boros Charm is useful in its versatility. Lure your opponents in to blocking your creatures (or vice versa) by making yours indestructible until end of turn. Double strike works amazingly well with Martial Glory. If opponent is enchanted with Curse of Bloodletting, that's 8 life for 2 mana. Should you have an Increasing Vengeance in your hand, make that 16 life for 4 mana. Flashback. That's potentially 32 life for 9 mana.

Martial Glory + Increasing Vengeance (Flashback if possible) + Boros Charm = Fun results

Aurelia's Fury is another versatile spell; a spot removal that targets everything. It can wipe out most of your opponent's creatures, as well as tap the ones that didn't die. This can be used cheaply to do 1 damage to a large number of creatures to tap them all, allowing the Battalion mechanic through in most cases. Not to mention Aurelia's Fury can outright kill your opponent if focused on them. If used at the beginning of your opponent's upkeep, it's useful to prevent them from casting noncreature spells and to strategically tap their creatures for your attack phase.

- Strategy:

Anyone who knows how Boros operates will know to disrupt their creatures as much as possible. This deck is very susceptible to control unfortunately. However, you do have spot removal and the Charms that, if used strategically, will allow you a degree of control over the battlefield as well.

Knowing this, it's a good idea to decide which creatures you will want to bait your opponent with. In my experience with this deck, Boros Reckoner makes a fine candidate. I'd rather be swinging with a Firemane Avenger doing 3 damage to my opponent or their creatures and gaining 3 life. And if left unchecked, Boros Reckoner poses a significant threat by itself.

If you do manage to get Aurelia out there on the battlefield, it may be your game winning card.

- Summary:

Not much to this deck really. Just hit fast and hard, use your instants to cover your creatures and control theirs, or just lob damage directly at your opponent. I have extensively played this against many types of decks, and it seems to hold its own about 80% of the time. Just watch out for those control decks, sometimes you may have to play it slow just to survive the encounter. The way I play other aggro decks is to swap in the Thatcher Revolt's. They can get Battalion going in no time. Good as a early/mid game card.

I do plan on swapping a Searing Spear for another Increasing Vengeance, and a creature to add another Aurelia. I'm looking to throw in another Aurelia's Fury as well. Just as soon as I can get a hold of the cards.

Constructive criticism welcome!
