whats the purpose of the non-basic lands? you don't have any plains or islands in the deck.... deck thinning?

The non-basics will also allow for multiple landfall triggers on the same turn. Plated geopede will have the potential to hit +4/+4 or more due to the fetches.
Correct, If plated geo is out. Next turn play an Arid or Scalding. Sack it. Double landfall. So now Geo is a 5/5 with first strike =)
