Deck Description

Standard, Bant somewhat...

I've done a deck like this before BOG came out... ...here, I don't really concentrate on the Chimera/Archangel -combo, like I don't use Revelation &/or Phantom Mage...

How to Play

You try & you learn!.. ;)

Deck discussion for Garruk, Caller of Archangels

Why wouldn't you abuse the chimera angel combo. Exploiting makes perfect.

Great Deck! BTW to go infinite with the angel chimera combo, you need fathom mage to supply the card draw to fuel the chimera ,that fuels the angel, etc.

Thst mills you to death? Are any of the triggers optional?

Oh, the fathom mage is.

My experience is that the combo usually won't happen, especially against a deck with a strong set of removal... ...it's just not worthit to build on comboes in standard today, because it doesn't work too well most of the time.......

Who cares about that. His pic is of jace the wallet sculptor. I think you should listen. Also fathom mage is just a good card to begin with.

I've playtested my old Bant Chimera deck & it didn't quite cut it... ...the combo was too slow & the cards relied on each other too much... ...usually, as I cast Phantom Mage, it got destroyed, shot, or spheared... ...this combo consists of 2 cards with cmc-4 & a 5 cmc card.......

It's really fun, but won't work out well, so I rather play less Chimera in this one & Kiora instead of Phantom Mage... ...it's just a try tough, I won't take this deck anywhere I guess...

Why dramatic rescue? If it's "removal" your deck is too slow to care about an unsummon effect, if it's to save your own dude then more dudes seem better.
Personally I think a few d-sphere or azorius charms seem better.
A-charm is really sweet synergy with archangel, as each creature with lifelin triggers the angel seperatly

I've considered Charm instead of Rescue, but Rescue works as both a tomporary removal & an Angel trigger at the same time...

life link during combat counts once, if you're saying that you attack with 4 dudes then use charm for life link, you get four archangel triggers you would be incorrect. combat damage all happens at once so unless something has first strike you only get one trigger on archangel. still a good card as it lets you draw or bounce a creature along with life link

i was corrected on this recently and each creature with life link is treated as it's own instance of life gain and there for does trigger the angel multiple times

1

It's like that, because every creature with lifelink counts as seperate sources of life-gain & the "whenever" triggered ability of the Angel triggeres/source...

Elspeth? Selesneya Charm? Azorius Charm?

2

Elspeth doesn't fit in, tough I've considered her... ...I can't imagine how could I forget Selesnya Charm for the sideboards & instead putting in Bramblecrush... ...I'm gonna put 2 in instead of Bramblecrush & the extra Unflinching Courage.......

Azorius Charm might be better than Dramatic Rescue, even in this deck, but I wonder if in most situations, a temporary removal along with an Archangel trigger could be better... ...we'll see...

Thanks!

The charm can offer lifelink to ALL your creatures!

I know as much, but both the temporal-removal + the life-gain won't happen, only 1 or another, even tough Charm offers many triggers at the same time for Archangel... ...I'm still considering it, so I have to run a few playtests...

A-charm is also temp removal.

0

It is & it's better at it, since it gives a card-disadventage to the opponent as well... ...with my Esper control deck, when I had 2+ A-Charms within the 1st 3-4 turns, I massively slowed down aggro decks, like Mono-Blue & Mono-Red Devotion...

The thing is, A-Charm may also trigger Horizon Chimera & that's a good option when Archangel is out of context...

Possibly two for two smiters to the sideboard? Theyre both beast 3 drops but both get abrupt decayed/mortared/sphered/verdicted all the same. Cant be countered seems a little bit for against control specifically but theyre both good

2

in some situations smiter is better but i feel brimaz is just a bigger threat, and even though he's legendary i would run 3-4 in smiters place, chances are if they haven't dealt with the one on the field you are already winning and if they kill it you just play another

2

Ginpachi is right, if a Brimaz stays alive for 3 turns you've won!

i would replace the smiters with brimaz and the centaur healers with courser of kruphix, three life is nice but courser lets you trigger archangel by playing a land, as well as playing lands off the top of your library when you're flooded to try and thin them out.

You write this to every "hot" deck, right? "Cool deck. Check mine out."

This is called spamming... ...you don't really give your thoughts on the deck, you just sablonically say that you like it & than post a link to one of youres...

You need to get motivated when you're on this site!.. ...if you don't provide anything, you ain't gonna' get mule crap from others...

Annoyingly he still made the hot page with a mediocre deck because he spammed.

He won't win FNM tough, not even at a weak location... ...so be it... ...they've even made Miley Sirus hot, despite the fact that she's medicore both inside & out.......

It is annoying that it shares the hot page with solid decks that WILL top 3 FNMs almost certainly win more often than not and even more annoying when I win my FNM and don't get a single like on my deck...

In the past, I used to post lots of links of my decks to others's, but I always provided honest suggestions & I spent time+effort doing that, looking at the deck, sometimes even virtual-testing it & see if it needed changes...

I used to always have 3-8 decks at the latest 15 top decks at the same time... :)

...& I also won FNM-s all around my country & even past the border... ...I go to FNM 8-9 weeks out of 10 & I win 5-7 times out of that, playing at a different location each time, tough just my city has 4 different stores & 2 of that are highly competative... ...I haven't been playing abroad for almost a year now.......

I miss playing as much as that, I've had to cut down for the year because of my exams, I used to love going to PTQs, I never did very well but the experience was exhilarating! Is there a chance I could get a hand with one of my decks at the moment? It seems solid but its not coming together!

I actually came here simply because I made a deck based off the bant walkers by brian "braun-duin" that has recently become popular.
So I was looking around for others and stumbled upon this.
I don't know if this is actually relevant to this conversation though. But I do agree with everything you say. I have only linked my decks about for times in a comment, so I might be extreme about this.

I'm trying to perfect that deck of Braun-Duin, but it seems there aren't much detailes to change... ...I've made an RUG-walkers deck however wich has prooven to be working perfectly after considerable amount of playtesting... ...it's within my reacent decks.......
