Deck Description

This deck has been modified to perfection, since I used it on FNM the 1st time...

Went to FNM(Budapest, Hungary)...

1st round: Azorius Humans/control... 2-0

2nd round: Jund aggro... 2-0

3rd round: Jund Midrange... 2-1

4th round: R/U/G Delver/Miracles... 2-0

5th round: Grixis Control... 2-1

Final round: Bant control... 2-0

Finished: 1st :)

Standard(2012. november)... Bant control/midrange...

Suggestions?..

I run Sigarda in the sideboard, to have an extra finisher against decks, that contain 3-4 Slaughter Games in mainboard &/or sideboard... ...she's also good against decks with a strong removal set... :)

i dont have tamiyo and i am getting hallowed foutains today.... i dont have entreat..... dont have terminus.... and i am getting 2 of the angel of serenity

This isn't bant control midrange though this I'd miracles your win condition is really just entreat the angels
If that gets slaughter games-Ed game 2 you lose armada wurm or not
I would suggest actually going mid range or going miracles
In midrange you run giest of saint traft
Thragtusk armada wurm angel of serenity (maybe) primal hunter is an option and not so many cards like think twice and the charm
In mid range they also play farseek and mana dorks

I play Thragtusk & I can also finish the game with Azorius Keyrune...

I have 4 Nevermore for Slaughter Games...

I don't really have condicions here to win... I have prepared this deck against Slaughter Games & all other of it's weaknesses, like Mortars & Sever...

...this is midrange, 'cuz I play only 2 types of miracles here...

How is this not control Midrange? If it's not then what would he call it? lol, people are so picky with labeling anymore as if it really mattered what you called your deck.

Also, I'd take out Sphinx's Revelation, and two terminus. I'd just forget about Cyclonic Rift in your SB all together. It's a cute idea, but I just don't like those high casts, and two mana to return a single creature is very under powered for a rare. Maybe I'm just hatin' though, haha. Another thing about the terminus is with eight to twelve draw spells that will be played probably midgame (turn four-six) I just don't see you needing board wipe that bad, but it could be a meta choice.

Furthermore, the point is this deck NEEDS Geist of Saint Traft, and that's what I'd do to squeeze in two of them. After that, I can't see anything being a really beast against this deck. Just watch those Selesnya Charms hitting your Armada and Thragtusk.

This deck contains 23 lands & 9 "ramp spells"... ...this is midrange because I play the bigger stuff...

...for that reason, Cyclonic Rift is perfect & Geist is worthless, when you could have Sigarda(if you don't have space for the both of tham)...

That 1 Revelation is also perfect in the deck, 'cuz I don't need more & by having 8 other draw spells & Tamiyo with Dread, I usually draw it... ...anytime, it's fine, when I draw it, 'cuz I only need it in the late game... ...it's rearly at about the buttom of the library & I suffle it many times anywayes... :)

Also have you considered using Geist of saint traft? I love the feeling of dread, such a good card works well if you want to go with an aggro/mid range approach. I feel that the lack of restoration angels especially given that you are already running Thrags and Armada wurms could be a mistake, so much synergy and value off of those plays a lone. Also might I suggest running Centaur healer? He seems to hit the board against heavy aggro decks at the exact opportune time, that and also synergy with Resto angel.

I've considered Geist, but what instead of?..

I don't need Restoration... With this deck, it doesn't matter, how many creatures do you have at once, only that you have the adventage...

I don't know if I would consider gatecreeper a ramp spell, as it goes to your hand. with all of the keyrunes and 4 farseeks, you've got more than enough anyways.

If you haven't played a land that turn, than it comes untapped :) ...

...it is the "5th Farseek... ...& sometimes, I need that extra early game stabileser...

...also a blocker... ...highly underestimated card... ...1 is perfect with 4 Farseeks... :)

If you play it turn 2 that that situation doesn't apply, I think you really have to ask yourself with a card like that would it be better to run the 4th thrag, or another sphinx's revelation in place of that 0/2 creature that only allows you to fetch a basic land and put it into your hand

I've asked myselfe that question many times... ...I'm still thinking on it, but I really feel like I need that 5th turn 2 ramp stuff...

I have the 4th Thrag in the sideboard, for times there's a bigger need for it...

With 1 more Revelation & 1 less turn 2 ramp card, the deck would be way less stabil...

That 1 Revelation is enough, 'cuz usually I don't need it, but when the time comes, if it's not at about the buttom of the deck, than I'll draw it in time & I gain a huge adventage by it...

...tho', I'm still thinking on dropping the Vine & adding a 4th Feeling of Dread...

I would agree more with that play, you have lots of 'ramp', the keyrunes and the farseeks should be more than enough.

I like the style of this deck, but I have to be honest I would rather go with Cyclonic Rift over Feeling of Dread. But then again I am a huge fan of Cyclonic Rift for the intense gaming changing possibility. Other than that I see no real issues with this in FNM. Good job Poet!

He's playing four terminus and three thragtusk, and four feeling of dread. I think it can handle a few stealing creatures, but this goes back to what I'm saying to PoetMaster-X.... He needs Geist in that main deck, and he wouldn't lose game one to decks like these.

You lie, if you say, you've tested it against youres, 'cuz I've seen youres & it's slow, ineffective, primitive & unstabil...

Get more experience & suggest first, just than try to show off with some decks that are really worth to post anywhere!..

...the Geist won't do much here...

I have no space for it, 'cuz I need the control, ramp & bigger stuff... ...Geist is only worth it, when you play at least 7 of Azorius Charm & Cyclonic Rift in the main deck to remove it's blockers...

Sigarda is way better, than the Geist, expecially with the ramp I run here...

I hate this deck, with a passion! mainly because it represents about 80% of the decks at my current FNM and I just can't beat it :P

So perhaps you could give some hints on this decks weakness, because I sure can't find one as playing R/B or R/U decks.

Liked it even tho I hate it, I guess there's a Love / Hate relationship to this one ;)

This deck's main weakness is Slaughter Games... ...well... ...I've prepared this deck even against 4 played Slaughter Games, but theese type of decks usually can't stand it...

Mizzium Mortars is good against Entreat the Angels & so is Sever the Bloodline... ...though, in this deck, I have many finishers & even more in the sideboards...

Even my 2 time FNM winner Grixis control got beat by this & my R/U/W control deck... ...usually 3-0, or 3-1... ...even if I use the 4 Slaughter Games & 3 Sever the Bloodline in the main deck from game-1 & the deck also contains 4 Mizzium Mortars... ...so this deck doesn't have a permanent weakness... ...nor my R/U/W control, wich is way better than this deck... ...it beat it once 3-0, twice 3-2... ...I belive, you have seen it here at top decks ("Crusade for Freedom")...

Make a Grixis, or Rakdos & use Slaughter Games(2 in main, 2 in sides)... ...Sever the Bloodline (1 in main, 2 in sides)... ...& Mizzium Mortars(3-4 in main)...

Looks pretty damn good! The only thing I would add in there is a Jace, Architect of Thought - him with Tamiyo out is a god-awful combo to go against and can be so damn powerful...

hello again poet,
I can always count on finding your decks on the top decks page! What do you think about taking out a terminus (maybe sideboarding instead of supreme verdict) and putting in 2 sleeps and 2 encrusts or a spell of that type. The only reason i suggest taking out terminus is because if you for some reason have to cast it after using entreat then you lose all your creatures and your opponent can get theirs back. Check out my new Talrand deck if you have the time.

Talrand would be almost pointless here... I need the mass removal & I can't take out Terminus.... ...some of my spells has a high cost, so Talrand would be slow here...

Encrust is pointless, when you already play Detention Sphere, or Oblivion Ring...

The wipes're having sinergy with my creatures, 'cuz with Thragtusk, I'll get the token(I have a 4th Thrag in the sideboards... ...& my creatures & token - general - spells are all high cost, so they go well with the wipes... ...I just cast Terminus(may be with a Thragtusk on board), than play Entreat, or the Wurm, may be Sigarda... ...the Keyrune are also amazing with mass removal... :)

Hi again poet, i acually made my bant control the other day, and believe that i built it the best way possible. i gennerally feel that you are missing ponder to play that many miracles, and therefor i dont.

you should really consider restoration angels instead of the wurms. thragtusk is deffinately the best card in the deck, so why not make it even better??

Resto' Angel... ...I've considered it, but I have no space for it... I rather play more control & taking adventage of Thragtusk, by playing many wipes... :)

I like Resto', but this deck is better without her... ...she would only be good for Thrag & the Wurm, so may be 2 of her would be nice, but there are better cards for this deck & I chose those...

...also... ...no matter how many times I flick the Tusk, or the Wurm by Resto', all of the okens will die by a wipe... ...the extra lives are nice, but against control decks, like mine, the victory won't depend on 5-10 lives, only on "who got who"...

ETA. is weak against Sever and Mortars, but in the late game, it's not a problem to play a Dissipate at any time :) ...

These decks could be weakened by Slaughter Games, but I use extra finishers in the sideboards for that perpouse...
