Budget deck ($20 limit on TCGPlayer) to play with my friend who's just getting into magic. Themed around the ocean and especially weird sea creatures. Intentionally not very powerful since the friend is new.Magus of the Jar is the key here as it combos with all the other creatures to make them huge, and also with Engulf the Shore / Crush of Tentacles to bounce the enemy board into the "jar hand" that will get discarded. Ideally, you either have "draw creatures" that are too big for Engulf to bounce, or you draw Gitaxian Probe or Ponder with a Crush of Tentacles to enable an 8/8.This site shows the wrong art, so for perfect theme use the Lorwyn underwater Ponder and the Zendikar bowl island (the bowl is the Magus' jar!).It is a travesty that Whelming Wave does not mention Squid and Sponge, so it can't go in this deck.I might add Ominous Seas now that Ikoria is coming out.
