Deck Description

for all you flavor-text readers out there, this is the magnum opus of a sadistic, masochistic planeswalker. mad, crazy control, yo. the goal is to get your life total as close to one as possible, without ever dying. i kept each card in the deck at a low mana-cost (and subsequently, high dollar-cost) to ensure that spells and abilities could be activated on both players' turns; ruining your opponent's day with maximum efficiency.

How to Play

ultimately, your going to want to stall and cripple your opponent while anticipating toxic-deluge, wiping the board of any creatures and effectively starting the game over in your favor.

Creatures:
spellskite - for only two colorless mana this guy can act as a decent blocker (0/4), while also acting as a shepard and a scape goat for opponent's spells or abilities. supportive aspect of creature pool.
avatar-of-hope - you should almost always be paying two mana for her. this deck is limited in it's creature count, butt avatar-of-hope allows you to pinpoint how much combat damage is received and how much gets blocked. defensive aspect.
deaths-shadow - once control is established these guys will be biggernshit for only one mana. once toxic-deluge goes off, deaths-shadow should have a straight shot at your opponent, if not, deaths-shadow should be big enough to squash any blockers. offensive aspect.

Artifact(s) / Enchantments:
elixir-of-immortality - these can be used in emergencies for life-gain. in addition, this deck is heavy on instants and sorceries, elixir-of-immortality helps to recycle your graveyard late game.
convalescent-care - this card is awesome once control of the board is established. an extra card and life to spare vitalizes this deck.
detention-sphere - these days, Terror just don't cut it.
eyes-of-the-watcher - good late game as a consistent way to tap unused mana. remember, this deck is mostly low-cost (allows for extra mana to tap for scry two) instant and sorcery (allows for activation of eyes-of-the-watcher) driven.
second-chance - haha, this card is fucked up. turn x: toxic-deluge. deaths-shadow. turn x+1: avatar-of-hope. spellskite. haha. so fucked up.
underworld-connections - similarly to eyes-of-the-watcher, underworld-connections is good late game and consistant. also, works real well in conjuncture with eyes-of-the-watcher.

Instants / Sorceries:
angels-grace - pretty self-explanatory. break in case of emergencies.
extirpate - this, combined with thoughtseize and vindicate, allow you to abort any unfit mothers with surgical precision. if any particular individual does not tickle your fancy, you can crucify all memory of it.
imps-mischief - a silly card that allows you to sculpt your life total while thwarting an opponent. thwarting.
plunge-into-darkness -what's up, vanilla-face? this card is mainly to be used with its homie, azamat; timely-reinforcements. it gobbles up little tokens for three life, which can be used to dive into yer deck. with all the scrying going on, it's possible to predict who's on first and snatch up goodies with accuracy and the quickness.
thoughtseize - yup.. delicious when garnished with extirpate.
timely-reinforcements - Very Important Trading-Card. V.I.T-C. in almost every situation you'll have less creatures and less life than an opponent.
toxic-deluge - this card does two things that cause this deck to emerge from it's pupa and take flight. firstly, you get to CHOOSE how much life you want to lose, marvelous. secondly, you get to kill all creatures. even (and especially) the indestructable ones and the hexproof ones.
vindicate - mmhmm.. extirpate ftw.

Lands:
you all get it. they have the option to lose you a little life or something..
