Deck Description

Another take on polymorph. Signature use of token generation to create fodder for mass polymorph. Creatures to create a pretty good lockdown with emrakul as the killer.

I used a couple mechanics that I hadn't seen other decks employ for whatever reason such as the zendikon but more importantly living weapon!! It is a great token generator and for quite cheap as well. Tell me what you think.

Deck discussion for New Take on Polymorph

Hello, fellow mass polymorpher. I also have a RUG decklist ( http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=177303 ) with some differences in token generation (and a different combo brought out).

I decided against the zendikons and living weapons because I wanted more bang per spell (multiple tokens, or an additional effect). But having a lot of inexpensive token generation means you'll have spares to chump block / mortarpod / eldrazi-sac, so that's another way to go.

I would recommend -2 kuldotha rebirth, -3 gelatinous genesis, +2 see beyond, +3 beastmaster ascension. That way you have an alternate win condition as well as a more reliable way to deal with drawing your creatures. (Multiple copies of Mass Polymorph are dead cards also, so see beyond rarely hurts you)

I do have to agree with the kuldotha rebirth swap for see beyond. But do you think I have enough general token generation to swap out for a beastmaster's?

Oh and I just took a look at your deck. That is a very impressive combo to bring out I must say haha. Truly a perfect win condition.

Thanks! I had fun coming up with it (and laughed evilly when I discovered painter's servant). You're likely right about not putting in the beastmaster's. This is a very tough decktype to tweak with all the different goals you need to accomplish (tokens, mana, the right cards in hand). I got a bit frustrated making mine and ended up putting together a new decklist ("Kuldotha Polymorph") that's more of a straightforward, reckless charge to the polymorph combo. :P

You know that you won't get the land returned to your hand if you polymorph a zendicon.

I love how you have such expensive spells embroidered into an impressive and fluent mana curve! I say it is a very good take on Mass Polymorph. See Beyonds and Preodrains are vital in a deck of this archetype, so I suggest that you include more of them, but not too much. By the way, I think that living weapon is an incredible inclusion here. Nicely done.
