Deck Description

A fun little deck I built, originally Standard until I swapped in Ætherplasm. I always loved Jalira's ability, but had a hard time getting around the risk involved. But after some trial and error and many hours of thinking, planning, and tweaking, I still run into times when polymorphing turned out to be not worth it. But it's still fun, and saccing an opponent's creature stolen from them through Act of Treason or a newly unmorphed Jeering Instigator to suddenly turn it into a Stormtide Leviathan that locks down the board.... Mmm, those moments are what it's all about.

How to Play

As stated before, Jalira, Master Polymorphist is at the heart of this deck. You want to start aggressive and stay that way, summoning cheap creatures that you can later use as fodder for even bigger creatures. Need a problem creature gone? Act of Treason and polymorph it. A noncreature threat? Void Snare it away for the moment. Way behind on a creature arms race? Anger of the Gods the field.
Early on Generator Servant and Dragon Fodder are great draws. A Siege Dragon a few turns early could help you cinch the game right there. Or, letting Jalira morph a creature the moment she arrives can bring you a huge threat WAY ahead of schedule. What's your opponent going to do against a turn four Stormtide Leviathan? Besides groan like my playgroup, of course.
A great synergy move is to tap Humble Defector for two cards, then, while its ability is still on the stack, Refocus it, tap it again, and sac it to Jalira in response to the second activation. By the end you've got a brand new (hopefully massive) creature and five new cards. (Yes, this has been confirmed by a Magic judge.)
If you're really in a bad spot saccing Bearer of the Heavens to Jalira will clear the board, hopefully not robbing you of anything useful. Or a later-game Crater's Claws can clear a big threat, or just push through the final points of damage for a win.
