Deck Description

My first deck to be posted up here, somthing ive got in the making as it was the first deck type I played against. A combination of some solid creature's, discard/draw damage and potential decking?

M10 cards to add (I assume they havent stored them yet?);
2 Wall of Frost 1 UU
Defender
Whenever Wall of Frost blocks a creature, that creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step
0/7

2 Sign In Blood BB
Sorcery
Target player draws two cards and looses 2 life

So all together, its a 65 card total.

Deck discussion for DDD = Discard, damage & Decking

blue mana is written as U
play discard OR decking

best decking=aggro mill with oona, or nemesis and the zombies
check my dekcs for suggestions

OR play discard and when you play really discard play with the charm and stuff like that instant discarters
maximize mind funeral
remove memory plunder
mind shatter is bad really bad
mind spring is ok
but not more as 2

and your creature choice is far from good
you have too many enchantments that's bad

grimoire thief is a goo dcard for milling

I choose mind funeral & memory plunder as a combo to let me play my opponents uber-spells. Most decks have a few & within the top quarter of the deck there will be atleast one.

If I had a choice it would be to utilize the three enchantements forced fruition, megrim & underworld dreams along with draw/discard spells to win. My problem is; How do I force a player to draw more cards (beside forced fruition) because I think ive got a grasp on the varioys ways to make a play discard.
Why is mind shatter bad? Whats wrong with 4/1 unblockables? 3mana 7/7's & the clone cards?

listen nyxathid is good but in a puuuure discard so with funeral charm, blackmail, duress and constant discard
cloe doesn't have it's place in a milling deck
4/1 unblockables neither
your goal is oto deck him
but you mix multiple goals discarting milling unblockable killing and stuff like that
that never works dude!

if you mill mill coompletely otherwise you will only help your opponent having his needed cards in time
if you discard make a deck about it or aggro discard
so the opponent can't play anything big while you attack with weenies

listen you still have the beginner mentality
"ooow this card looks powerfull and usefull so i use it"

no cause it lacks synergy
you don't want to play opponents spells you wanna play yours!
to give YOU an advantage

if you playfrom the opponents grave you never know what you ll get and when you ll get it
and in a goo ddeck you know each action so get your own spells

you must allways choose 1 goal not 1900000000 cause it's never going to work

try to focus on something hat do you want?
aggro discard? milling? or unblockable control?

Hi Razerous,

The above comments are a bit harsh, I must say, but they do make some good points which you should consider. The biggest concern in your deck is combining the "mill" win condition with the "damage" win condition - which don't mix very well, as thealextheory pointed. Why don't you reconstruct your deck with focus on Discard & Control?

You want to shut off all of your opponent's early game options with powerful Discard outlets and removal / countermagic / card advantage. Hypnotic Specter, as you already have in your deck, is a prime choice. Try increasing the card count to four. Meanwhile, you can run the best Discard spells like Hymn to Tourach to further wreck your opponents' hands, among other choices. Mind Spring in a deck that runs little ramp is a bit too slow, don't you think? How about Brainstorm or Impulse? Doom Blade and Mana Leak are also excellent utility spells that you want to consider.

Your creature base needs a bit of tweaking, although it looks relatively solid. My greatest suggestion is to up the card count of your best spells to four or three. Don't forget to cut the more situational spells! While Inkfathom Witch can lend your creatures more damage, you should be spending those four mana on keeping control of the board (via removal and countermagic), as any good control deck does. Efficiency is key in a solid creature base. If four Nyxathids are not enough, try Nihilith or (if your budget is slightly larger) Tombstalker. Your deck's consistency should improve greatly.

As a final note, I would recommend removing the Forced Fruition / Underworld Dreams / Megrim combo entirely. Allowing your opponent to draw many spells every turn is nearly suicide, as they'll be able to find answers to your threats at an accelerated pace. It may work if you happen to find all three pieces and put them on the board - but the enchantments are fairly useless otherwise (with the possible exception of Megrim).

Hope this helps. Good job with the deck! I'm certain that it will improve.

Thanks Azen, all good stuff. I would like to note, Im trying to field a standard-legal deck so this is why the deck may seem more than a little ineffecient.

I would like to go down the road to discard damage-ness via the megrim/fruition/dreams type cards (Yes, I know this is contary to what you suggested but its what I wanna try).

I shall focous purely on cheap blockers and utility creatures and the discard-damage theme & leave all this funky unblockable & mill-stuff behind. Although I do stand by the efficacy of playing from an opponents graveyard as it will be larger than your own hand fairly quickly and any good player can recognise a powerful card when it gets milled/discarded.

As for the forced fruition.. if one underworld dreams is out then while a player could have access to a large amount of cards which may be the end of me before thier own end-step, each played spell will equate to 7 damage in terms of draw. All I need is somthing to shut down players ability to play spells or use land or perhaps the odd counter spell. Mind spring is too slow but it is the best for drawing 3+ cards at 5 mana (but hence the slow).

Creatures.. *chop snip and sieve* Roger.

Now.. do I modify this deck or do I make a new deck post? How does the forum/database work?

Razerous, you can make direct modifications to your decklist. If you intend to take this deck pretty far and try to make it as developed as possible, you should start a new decklist entitled "DDD, Version 2" or something along those lines. There is no rule to what you do - this is just what I have seen other posters use.

I'm so sorry about the Standard problem. Unfortunetely, I can't offer you much help on that, since I am hardly a competitive player. If you're aiming to build a Forced Fruition deck for Standard, I would consider searching it up or something. You'll get nice ideas this way.

Hope this helps,

Azen

yeah sorry if it was harsh, i appologise

i need to remember you that standard consists of the last four BLOCKS
so enough choice to make an efficient deck.

if you want to make a milling deck try using cards like mind funeral , nemesis of reason
oona, is duite good but only 4 copies
memory sluice , and the most powerfuill sanity grinding and traumatise
sanity grinding i sactually th eonly deck / card that went to top places.

discard is NOT standard there are NO good standard discard decks
caus egood ones will need blackmail and funeral charm as well as a flip card from kamigawa

oona is super cause she mills and swarms at a time
