Deck Description

I've pretty much had a deck like this in mind for quite some time and it's taken me awhile to finally create it. I enjoy gaining life and trying to sustain while I either beat down my opponent or win without even having to attack. Tell me what you think. If I need some modifications, the advice will surely help.

How to Play

I work on building mana as fast as possible to account for the high cost cards. If it works correctly then I have multiple possibilities to winning. In this case, I usually do come out with a victory with multiple different combinations. Whether its gaining enough life to win, winning by extreme damage, exiling a lot of my opponents permanents, etc.. As soon as I get six mana out, it's pretty tough to beat. I usually want to get both Herald of War's out and use the Ring of Thune's to diminish cost of all my angels or at least attack with them a couple of times, Admonition Angel would come in handy in exiling creatures to make way for an attack, and creatures like Serra Avatar, Wall of Reverence, and Rhox FaithMender assist my Felidar Sovereign with an immense lifegain to win without attacking.

Deck discussion for Angel/Lifegain

Feel free to post any advice on helping this deck out. I'll be playing it soon in a modern FNM tourney.

Your deck is based upon an excellent premise of lifegain/ power creatures to win, but it has problems. Your land count is too low and your mana curve is top heavy. You play 20 lands - six of which come in tapped. If you get six land s out the deck is great but you may be dead way before that point. You do not see much land destruction in modern format but it does exist. Boomerang on one of your lands sets you back , propaganda effects like Ghostly Prison wreck your attack, and removal will kill your game unless Emeria is active. You need less bombs in the deck and more early defensive and removal spells. Good cards to think about would be Ghostly Prison, Windborn Muse, Oblivion Ring, Journey to Nowhere, and Wall of Omens. Disenchant should be in your sideboard. Play at lease 3-4 more lands and cut 1 or 2 Emeria. Think how you would handle Burn or Red Deck wins decks that kill by turn five, or Discard decks that will strip your hand and then Extirpate your graveyard. You Play Emeria but none of your creatures have come into play benefits so you are not maximizing its benefits. The deck has a solid base but needs early defense to get to its stable mid-game and win position. Good Luck.

I only have one oblivion ring. What if I take out the safe passages and replace them with a pacifism or arrest? I feel as if I need to drop both kabira crossroads because the greater my chances of getting seven plains will allow me to return creatures from my graveyard. Having six lands out of twenty being tapped as soon as they enter is kind of bad once you think about it. The play set of gift of estates I feel are best there to increase my chances of pulling them in my starting hand. If I do, then I'll easily have no less then five plains in five turns which will bring me close to playing everything essentially. This also improves my chances of getting seven plains in order to have emeria take effect.

drop deathless, get avacyn.
drop reya, akroma's memorial, and blinding. add 4 seraph sanctuary
drop goldnight, add celestial mantle
maybe drop moonsilver for 2 more plains
drop condemn and two gift of the estates, add awe strike and holy day
I think those would be the best choices here.
as an afterthought, maybe drop serra avatar and add purity,
change out 2 emeria for 2 more kabira crossroads.
maybe drop admonition for more lands/rhox faithmender?
also, drop magus of the moat and add ajani goldmane

the thing is, you don't need emeria. its kind of pointless. I mean sure, you get creatures back, but there are no white angels that have a come onto the field ability except angel of mercy, and thats not worth it. Defy death is better in my opinion, because you get to put 2 +1/+1 counters on it. So dont take my advice if you dont want to, its just I have a lot of experience with white and angels.

I'll certainly work with the options. I actually had a playset of Defy Deaths in this deck once before and they do work well at times, but I end up spending five mana so I can't really play any other spells unless my Helard of War has enough counters on her to bring any angel in with two or three plains. I will take the advice and work with it before Friday.
