Deck Description

This deck is built around two cards: Simic Manipulator and Mirror Mockery. There are many synergies.

Turn 1: Faerie Miscreant
Turn 2: Favorable Winds or Mirror Mockery for card draw or buff
Turn 3: Simic Manipulator, evolve will trigger off Mirror Mockery and you steal a little creature in their turn.
Turn 4: Talrand's Invocation, 2 evolve triggers and another stolen creature

You have played 4 cards and either stolen two creatures, drawn 3 extra cards and have 2 2/2 fliers or have a 2/2 and 2 3/3 fliers by the end of turn 4.

The rest of the cards are more fliers or flying strategy supplements and/or ways to keep getting evolve procs for the Manipulator.

How to Play

Mirror Mockery is very useful in this deck. It can be used as:
• Pseudo-removal for an opponent's attacking creature
• A way to reuse ETB affects by casting it on your own creatures (from creatures such as Faerie Harbinger, Faerie Miscreant and Quickling)
• Buff Simic Manipulator (the token triggers Evolve)
• Could be used in conjunction with Stitcher's Apprentice for free 2/2s

The rest of the deck focused on flying creatures. Their relatively power and toughness shouldn't be of an issue because I plan to use the Manipulators counters on smaller creatures anyway. Even so, Favorable Winds helps out with this issue.

Shenanigans with Faerie Harbinger and Quickling + re-users such as Voidwalk and Mirror Mockery
Bident of Thassa synergises with both Aetherspouts and Mirror Mockery, and of course all the evasive creatures.

Deck discussion for Mocking Manipulator

Hi rflower,

Interesting deck. Your sideboard is a little big, possibly post it as a separate deck?
I'm am so used to seeing counter spells in blue modern decks. You really should consider playing with more than just 2 Dissolve.
Suggest adding 3 Mana Leaks or 3 Counterspells and 1 Dispel. Take out 1 Aethersprouts, 2 Talrand's Invocation and 1 Dissolve.

Here's a faerie deck I'm currently working on. If being Modern legal isn't important use 4 Treasure Cruise instead of 4 Font of Fortunes.

If you can I'd appreciate comments on my unloved http://www.mtgvault.com/planestalker/decks/rb-modern-waste-not/

May you always make your own good luck.

First of all, thank you so much for commenting.
My sideboard is where all the cards that are thoughts are possibilities for the deck. And yes, you are right; I'll clean it up.
You're idea to add more counterspells is interesting. Are you sure Mana Leak is better than Dissolve? Why so? It can be played in the early game and this deck isn't that aggressive, but alternatively Dissolve will give you an assured counter in all stages of the game. I'm just wondering...
Also you think I should take out Talrand's Invocation? It can be a fairly strong card with 2 evasive 2/2s (or even 3/3s with Favourable Winds), and the two tokens proc Manipulator.
Thank you for commenting. I will take a look at your decks you suggested :)

Since your deck is technically not powered by all islands Mana Leak is good counter for early game counter.
The reason I suggested taking out the Talrand's , Aethersprout, and Dissolve was to lower the overall mana cost of your deck and thus make it work quicker. With the increased counterspells your deck has greater change to push through an early attack and to prevent mass wipes in the midgame.

Good thinking. Although I don't think having four non-island lands should make too big of a difference to the casting of 1UU spells. I guess the spells you need all depends on your meta game.

I'm not sure which card is better. Mist Raven or Talrand's Invocation?
Mist Raven can bounce an opponent's creature, another of yours (to abuse other ETBs) like or its self to trigger evolve indefinitely (provided you have the resources), copied with Mirror Mockery, and its cost can be reduced by Warden of Evos Isle. Also can possibly be found with Call to the Kindred.
Talrand's Invocation gives you two birds, two evolve triggers and more out of Favorable Skies by being both buffed. Also can possibly create more card draw with Bident of Thassa.
Aggression vs Utility
