A follow-up to this. Today while playing this deck I had a Serra Ascendant doubling each turn for two mana with the Cradle of Vitality out, and by the time I won it was a 120/120. I can't thank you enough for the tip on this one.

I made a deck similar to this. Mine is a bit more expensive, but if you are looking to stay on the cheap, Children of Korlis is great for saving life. For card advantage, Survival Cache and Well of Lost Dreams both work great to put more cards in your hands for Martyr of Sands. That's the typical reaction. I'll get out the combo once, and then everyone knows what to look for and shuts it down ASAP.
Considering the elves you have, Elvish Archdruid could be a great way to add a lot of mana. You'll get the Hydra pumped up very quickly, and also your elves get the +1/+1 for good measure.
Eldrazi Monument just made my wishlist. Not only the 2/2 saprolings, but when once I've got an Essence of the Wild out they'd be 7/7 indestructible flyers. Thanks for the tip!
