Deck discussion for Helix Power

18 lands with over half of your spells 3 mana cost or over is going to cause issues. It is hard to win games if you can't cast the spells in your hand...

did 10 sample hands, and only 3 out of 10 had crappy openings with the next 5 draws. his mana curve is focused enough that this actually would work just fine most of the time.

Also, Spitemare maybe?

10 sample hands on a digital generator like that doesn't seem like a very large or accurate sample size to me. I can say from personal experience that similar deck curves with even 20 land has mana screwed me pretty regularly. I've only seen decks running mostly 1 and 2 drops run consistently on this little mana.

I'm not saying he can't run 18 lands in this deck if he wants. If he plays in a casual kitchen table environment where its ok to mulligan multiple times to get a decent hand this could work ok for him. I'm just trying to point out a problem so he isn't surprised if he has mana issues consistently.

Believe it or not with 20 lands (I only had 2 boros charms then) I ran into too many lands especially around the turn 6-7 curve so I took some out and have had no problems and very few mulligans but i totally get what you are saying

i usually run 20 lands to a 60 deck 1/3 in theory lol. looking at this though i think hes got enough to manage. wiht most cards being around 3 mana he may only be able to drop 1 each turn for the first few but if they make it late game he should have drawn enough by then.

Lol, I was going to suggest an increase in land...but I would say 6 more lands. If you are concerned about flooding use fetch lands or something similar to thin the deck. I will guarantee that in practice will not work more that 60% of the time (and that does not mean you win, just that you get a good hand) the land is the most important part of the deck. I err on the side of Making a mans base 40% of the deck and adjust from there depending on the curve I want. (higher curve more mana).

This is the only deck that i've run under 20 lands but i'll keep them in sideboard for now maybe based on the projected game length.

the biggest problem with fetchland is how expensive it is. the REALLY good ones run upwards of $20 each or more

More like $35+

What about 2 warleaders helix? Maybe instead of intimidation bolt. There is also a flying hobgoblin that is hybrid red white... Might be good to have like 2 cards be flying ....also the RW hybrid enchantment is super over powered can't quite remember its name

rise of hobgolbins does sound pretty good and I may consider a flyer. It would be helpful in the longer run

intimidation bolt is still a good card for this deck. it can stop an opponent if they happen to run token aggro (albeit only for 1 turn), and that can often win you a game

i also agree that figure of destiny is a LITTLE bit better but its really up to you

Maybe consider Cloudstone Curio, Duergar Assailant, and Figure of Destiny. Curio combos really well with Hybrid one drops and Balefire.

I had Assailants and Figures but I really don't have room for them. Cloudstone I may try and see what I can do about

Both are better than Recruit, IMO, but that may just be me.

Legion's Initiative? Works with literally every creature, another way to survive a board wipe, and can keep Spark Trooper alive for an extra turn if you do exile.

Legion's Initiative is good indeed but i qould also add 2 more boros charms too the sideboard just to deal with decks that have a little more removal then normal.

I totally get what you're saying I had a playset in the first place but took them out for warleader's helix. as far as legions: it may help in the long run so i'll keep it in sideboard for now

Good point there I'll keep it in mind as far as legions goes and i had a playset of charms but i took them out for warleaders helix. i'll put them back in sideboard tho

How is "Fanatic of Mogis" not in this deck??? It would freaking kill. Also, where is the Shrine to Nyk? You could be generating huge amounts of mana. My advice, add those cards and maybe even a "bonfire of the damned". I play a very similar deck but I also run "demigod of revenge". Regardless, this deck looks pretty solid. Goodluck!!
