very nice deck! I've considered making esper allies for a little while now, it's good to see someone has given me a bar to evaluate myself! so far I've got my original 4 color ally deck (love it!) and a bant deck that has worked out quite well. feel free to check them out! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=45164 http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=63698
perhaps switching the battlesingers for ondu clerics? early life gain will let you take a hit or two while still building your allies up. I know you have lifelink with the paladin, but thats not always a guarantee.
silence also works nice in luminarch decks! here's my attempt at a good ascension deck http://mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=64147
no talus paladin? interesting choice of other spells, maybe too random? how does this deck play out? http://mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=45164 I run 5 color allies as well, I go for warp world, though I sideboard a nexus too.
I would suggest actually using agadeem occultists instead of the brigands. playing my ally deck at standard tournaments, that guy has actually won me a couple games. just play test him and get a feel for it, use him to create a chump blocker from the cards you milled your opponent or even steal their better creatures! there's nothing like taking a broodmate from a jund deck :P
just as a precaution, I think putting in agadeem occultists would help, it would at least give you a creature each turn to either block or attack with
I've won several tournament matches with the occultist, and I only run 2 as well. it works great with the excavators. I've used it against jund and red wins multiple times, I would at least sideboard. I agree the seascape for the loremaster, mid-late game you will thank yourself
I really like the inclusion of liliana! that's a pretty good idea. as for mana, you NEED ancient ziggurats...I use them in my 5 color ally deck, and they are amazing! I would suggest trying full playsets of certain allies, though in all honesty, they work pretty well however you put them together. I play with 4 freeblades, excavators, diabolists, ondu clerics and the harabaz druids. It may seem a little unnecessary, but ondu clerics have helped me out so much, especially when you dont want to sacrifice an ally to some damage that you could just let through. here is my deck, feel free to ask anything, I'll be happy to help out! (trying to make 5 color allies viable!) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=45164
I really like the addition of marshal's anthem to the deck! for some reason i guess i never considered it...just made this a little while ago, maybe i'll throw a couple in here. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=63698
p.s. lose the puma, not worth it
if you can get your hands on them, ancient ziggurats are amazing for these decks. I also recommend terramorphic expanse or stirring wildwood instead of the panorama, same effect, more choices. take a look at my deck, still 5 colors, but it has gotten me far in several tournaments! http://mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=45164
no hagra diabolists?
haha no problem! 1. I use the harabaz druids for extra mana, generally once out ill play at least 2 allies a turn. consequently, all that mana can be used theoretically to trigger off a warp world by turn 4. (t1 - land hada freeblade. t2 - land harabaz druid. t3. land any two 2 drops and hada. t4 -you have 8 mana) my last standard tournament with this deck i managed a warp world on turn 5. opponent lost 50 life lol 2. the khalni gem...this is a little harder to explain lol. i did initially play with two however i have just dropped it to one for the sake of keeping the deck at 60 cards. If i do manage to draw it, due to the high number of 2drop allies i use, i play the gem, then use that to play an ally. its a little weird, but i find that the extra mana is useful...more playing will determine whether or not i keep it. also i tend to have a splinter twin in my hand for a little while, the khalni gem helps get that out.
terra eternal.
lolz maelstrom nexus would be fun in this as well!
i may have to proxy your deck and play someone. of course that shouldnt give us a definitive answer, as it is your deck and you know how to play it best.
where are the ancient ziggurats and harabaz druids? i run a standard 5 color ally deck, its gotten me pretty high in tournaments, no one really expects to see 5 color allies in a sea of jund lol. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=45164
forgot to mention, my deck is less beat down, but i have won that way several times...i try to vary the abilities as much as possible, it makes for an interesting game lol
I play a standard 5 color ally deck, played in a couple tournaments and so far has run amazingly well. go ahead and check it out! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=45164
