Deck Description

Monoblue Ninja tribal deck. I just love the ninjutsu concept, which makes this a fun deck to play :) The Shurikens are mostly kept as they fit the theme, but can be easily replaced with other spells.

How to Play

Use ornithopter to get your ninjutsu going on round two. Alternative is to use Thalakos seer at a slower pace. Artful dodge allows your ninjas to keep harassing your opponent after they've gotten into play.

Strengths:
Mistblade Shinobi, Man-o'War and Umezawa's Jitte gets rid of your opponents creatures.
Ninja of the Deep Hours ensures early card advantage.

Weaknesses are:
- Non-creature decks, as you have nothing that removes permanents
- Hexproof/Shroud, as all your removals "targets".

Deck discussion for Ninja

Hey, i notice u have ninja deck too :)
Thats awesome, cause its my main deck and i have a lot of experience with it.
Ninjutsu is one of my favorite ability and it never get old for me. I must say i never played as monoclored cause its more limited then multicolored ninja deck. As u said, this deck has trouble if has no dominance around board. It can be easily fixed to adding the black color into.

Openers
-Thalakos Seer - great card at monocolored deck for sure, i stop playing with him cause i have multicolored and the draw card after switch was too late for me
-Ornithpter- nothing to say, its amazing at early game but its going to lose his awesomeness at late game

(U chose the best openers to ur monocolored)

Ninjas
-Higure- this card deserve applause for sure, u have right number for ur deck cause he have nothing to choose from, most of the time he is there just for unblocable cause u have ur ninjas on the hand or battlefield already.
Mistblade-good number of them, love it if i have matchup against black cards so he solve the problem (Throat Slitter is limited in this position)
Deep hour-classic for every ninja deck, good to have this number if ur draw is slower
Shakamimas- well, u have large number of them and if i think right u need them to increase ur options cause u playing monocolored thats the compesation, right?

Other (creatures)
-Kira- not sure why do u playing this card at ur deck, u have large number of every ninja and this guy protect u even from ur Artful Dodge
-Man-o'-War-strange card for high cost

Spells
-Preordian- nice to have prepared deck before ur Deep hour hit opponent :)
-Artful Dodge- why not, sometimes its very helpful if Higure slacking at ur deck and ur ninjas are already on the board. Also its first card what u can discard if ur hand is full, flashback for 1U is amazing maybe broken? :D
-Counterspell- u are the type what need to be sure if u counterspelling right? :)
-Ponder- in my opinion its better then Preordian

Artifacts
-Jittle- good choice in mono deck but it takes time time to reach full potencial of this card, if Higure is on the board or one of ur openers is free its great
-Shuriken- this card is my favorite when u loosing ur control and ninjas are already on the board, this thing mess enemy lines pretty well

What i suggest to this deck
-Walker of the Secret Ways - its compensation for ur Man-o'-War, also free wiew to opponent hand is always good to have!
-Quietus Spike - ninjas decks has no damage and opponent can find some answer until the game end, and if he kill Higure and ur ninjas are without shuriken and already on board thats the time when ninjas are vulnerable and only way is to block... no clothie ninja wanna block some big monster, right? :) so can accelerate dmg with this card
-Echoing Truth- one of my favorite spell for ninjas

When i think about mono and multi ninjas deck, im glad im playing the multicolred deck, u have more options, u are less predictable even if u playing again same player more then year ( tested :) ), more fun and so on...

Ninjas has always anwer against every deck i met, i was never bored when i played them and opponents never said its overpowered or broken... u need just right sideboard and thats all, just fun fun and fun :)

Thanks for your advise:)

I tried to make it a Black/Blue deck, but it just ended up being too slow.

Yes, Sakashima is there for its variety.
I agree that Ponder is better then Preordain, but it's restricted in Vintage. Although that's not a big issue on a casual deck, I just like to keep it as legal as possible :)

I agree that Kira is a bit out of place in a Ninja deck. But these deck have a challenge with burn-decks, and so this little fella has saved me many times.
Man-O'-War actually works very well in this deck. By bouncing my opponents cards I can then use him to ninjitsu a ninja afterward and then bounce again.
I don't really like Walker of the Secret Ways. A bit costly for what you get.

As you mention, the deck does not do a lot of aggro, so I either achieve early board control or I loose. Quietous Spike may assist there, but I wouldn't replace the Jitte. The Jitte is great for both offense, life and kill off my opponents creatures. Versatility is the key here :)

Did u ever think about how vulnerable is this deck against Slaughter games and similar things like it? Thats a nightmare!

Well, Slaughter Game is mostly a sideboard card for tournament games to stop combo-decks like Thopter, Melira-Pod, Living End, Allure, Splinter, Glimpse, Pebbles etc. etc.. :) For those decks it's a nightmare, for this deck I would say it is a tough nuisance...

U have right, its sidebaord card for tournaments, but in casual play it can show up too or in another form like Surgical Extraction, it means one bad step and u did even worse mistake then u think :P ...
I have necessity to do deck around this playstyle with Circu, Dimir Lobotomist and some mill cards...
just for fun and ruin one day of magic with friends :D

I can see how Surgical Extraction and Extirpate can ruin your day if you're constantly playing vs. Mill Deck. So far nobody in my group has a valid Mill Deck, unless you count my Painter as a Mill Deck. But it's more off a kick-ass combo deck. Probably one of my best decks, but not a very social deck due to its effectiveness..

I am experimenting with a Mill Deck, but not playtested it yet:

Hey, i updated my old exalted deck.
i would like hear ur suggestions.
I did few changes, u always advise me more lands to 3 color deck so i bring more of them even if i have mana ramp, also i down size number of creatures cause the exalted has burst dmg from one at combat phase anyway.
Block phases are what worried me in old version. So i did few changes at spell arsenal as Silence (nicely can counter fast decks, and it was response to Burning-Tree Emissary and similar things, Detention sphree on planeswalkers and double creatures on board, crystalization was there and is still there for catching nasty creatures. Supreme verdict for reset and also work very well with Celestial Colonnade.

Deck before:
It was unstopable force but it had few blind spots, that was reason to change it to more control deck.

Deck today:
Tested at 1v1 4:1 , ffa 4:2 for me
I was able to catch most of the dangerous monsters on the board. I had always answer for massive attacks and my dmg output was not so bad. Early game it was like 4-6 dmg per attack, when i hit 6 mana i lay Sovereigns of Lost Alara, from that point it was easy.
