To your first comment - this deck is a type 2 standard. the second comment, a lot of players are currently running zombie/vamp decks in my area; even if they aren't, you can sac the torch and deal 2 damage to creature or player. Many of the same players are also running non-basic lands, gives any elf i have non-basic landwalk.. that speaks for itself. The deck has plenty of blockers, and a lot of strength gain for creatures. (quest for the gemblades, beastmaster ascension, vines -) and life gain (Nissa) runs very well.
