Yeah, I remembered that after I hit 'enter.' It's partially because I'm a moron.

The win condition comes from Stasis/Chronatog/Orb of Dreams.

All permanents come into play tapped (Orb of Dream), each player skips their untap step (Stasis).... During your opponent's turn, activate Chronatog's ability (skip your next turn to give Chronatog +3/+3).

What happens is you effectively never take another turn, continually skipping your turn, while your opponent decks himself. Since everything comes into play tapped, and nothing can ever be untapped, you win via skipping turns.

While Orb of Dreams does hit the field faster than Frozen AEther, it also effects your permenants where AEther only effects your opponents. You might consider splashing them in in place of the Orbs.

Additionally, Stasis is best played one of two ways. The first is with Forsaken City to consistently have a source to pay the upkeep for mana. This is best accommodated with the suite of free counters and Gush as a card drawer.

The other way is via bounce. You can use cards like Chain of Vapor (instant) or Vedalken Mastermind (creature with U: tap: return permanent you control) at your opponent's EOT therefore allowing you to have an untap step during your turn to replay Stasis.

I personally prefer the bounce route because it allows me to play Stasis and maintain a soft lock while I get the rest of the tools in place. In fact, take a look at my "Blue Prison" deck which is a Stasis-bounce build, very similar to what you have here.

I welcome any comments and criticism you have to offer on any of the decks I have listed here (just click on my name to see the deck list). Thanks in advance!

How abput Defense of the Heart to give you an alternate way to get him out? Not too many people would expect that. Also consider the Urza's lands (mine, power plant, and tower) for faster colorless mana, it'd be faster than getting counters on the Vial. You could always reanimate him, too.

I actually used to run a draw/death deck. I don't have it anymore, but I'll try to rebuild it digitally to show you; I'll post it here and not as a new deck. Give me until the end of the day.

Your mana curve is really steep! To remedy this, consider splashing in Saprazzan SKerry for some acceleration via land. Also, STRONGLY consider myr tappers and other artifact tappers to help you speed out some things (Sol Ring, Fellwar Stone, etc.). Sapphire Medallion is a must here, as well, or perhaps High Tide.

Being mono-black, consider Mutilate over Damnation if your play area runs a lot of indestructible creatures. Otherwise, if you're not worried about legalities, try Diabolic Edict or Chainer's Edict as removal options, as well; Chainer's is at least reusable with the help of Cabal Coffers.

Hell, while we're at it, even the fetch lands can help you lose life through all of this. Necropotence can help you dump a ton of health all for the sake of card advantage just to turn it over. In fact, Necropotence is probably going to be the best option as it's a best of both worlds tool for you.

Cards like Dark Confidant, pain lands (Underground River for you), and/or City of Brass (another land that does one damage to you when it becomes tapped) could help you get the job done.

Holy crap Glimpse the Unthinkable is amazing! It's ridiculous how far milling has come over the years.

A couple of things that will help this deck along are Jace Beleren, Brain Freeze, and Jace's Erasure. The Erasure and Beleren himself work INCREDIBLY well with one another while you generate the loyalty to drop the hammer from Beleren's third ability.

In the mean time, acceleration is key to mill. Cards like Traumatize, Nemesis, and Scalpelexis take a while to get online; implementing artifact tappers will help drasticallty. Sol Ring, Fellwar Stone, Talismans from the Mirrodin set, will all work.

Also, the land count is a shade low, and unbalanced. If you have the means, consider implementing Underground Sea (expensive as hell) or the pain land Underground River to help fill the gaps (any other B/U land will work in those slots, as well). Hell, City of Brass could also help you tremendously.

Tormod's Crypt could also be a consideration, perhaps for a sideboard, should you run up against anything with reanimate or graveyard manipulation.

The mana curve on this is ridiculously high. I see what you want to do with it, but Platinum Angel isn't going to save you from an early rush.

In the mean time, consider weaning the large CC cards down a bit and make a little room for some survivability like Diabolic Edict. In a pinch, they will help ensure that you don't have anything squeeze through before your Angel or Magus can get online. And, once there, consider some type of card drawing engine that will help you sustain your threats.

I agree with this comment. Try to trim the deck down to where nothing costs anymore than 4 CC. This will allow you to play everything quickly and not sitting back waiting.

I could give you a slew of suggestions, but then it would start looking like my Necropotence deck; take a look at it.

I see where you're going with this, but there are a lot of things that could go wrong (as you elude to in your first post).

For starters, 4 copies of Cabal Coffers is dangerous here. While an amazing card, if you get them too early you get hosed by its own ability. To help combat this, consider dropping the count down to 3 and add in at least 2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. The Tombs will at least allow the Cabal Coffers to tap for mana while also counting towards itself when you activate its ability.

Second, the mana curve is all over the place. To be honest, you might be better off steering away from a lot of the 2-3 counts and focus on play sets on what you are trying to accomplish most. I'm personally a 'live and die by' type of player, perhaps that philosophy could help this build.

Necropotence will make this deck 100% more efficient. It's restricted, but if you plan on staying casual add at least 3 in. For a better idea, look at my "Necropotence" deck posted here on the site. Just click my name to see my deck list, it's the first one, and is my baby. It's remarkable how inexpensive it can be to create decks that are so destructive.

So it's safe to say that it's playing better than it was before? If so, start working on the draw deck and let's get that tweaked as well.

I would definitely increase the count of Timberwatch Elf to 4, he will be crucial in creating a kill condition, so getting him on the board should be a necessity. Beyond that, Taunting Elf could be an interesting add as he can clear the path for everything else.

Ezuri should be played in place of Kamahl. Ezuri does the EXACT same thing as Kamahl does for pump purposes and bring regeneration to every elf on the board (at your discretion). If it's the land ability you're looking to keep, then by all means, keep Kamahl.

Vesuvian Doppleganger could be a fun addition to the deck. Also, I know you plan on 'cloning' the Assassins and what not, but I would strongly suggest upping their total to 4 since you plan on using them as your main form of defense. Perhaps combine them with an Icy Manipulator and/or Lightning Greaves to give them more utility and protection.

Actually, the Edicts would be much better in the sideboard instead of the main board....

Sorry bout that.

This looks a lot better in terms of discard. To go further, you could consider phasing out the Cabal Coffers, however. Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT card, but with everything in the deck costing 3 CC or less, you're rarely really needing to tap into it (not to mention, it's absolutely worthless in an opening hand).

With that said, you could consider phasing Liliana Vess out, too. I know, I know, she's awesome, but again, with a CC of 5 are you really going to need her when you get her. Early, she's awesome, but that means Dark Riting into her turn 2 or 3 (or my favorite, double Dark Riting her turn 1)).

With that said:

-4 Cabal Coffers
-2 Liliana Vess
-2 Piranha Marsh

+2 Bojuka Bog
+4 Diabolic Edict (in the event you need protection)
+1 The Rack
+1 Swamp

See if that works for speed, that would make everything a 3 CC or less and allow you to fire things off right away.

You know...I should. But with everything already cut to 3 as it is, what should I swap out for one? I don't want to drop the Rits or the Pits, those need to remain at 4.
