Deck Description

This deck relies on casting the general almost as much as most Voltron decks do; however, there are some alternative paths to victory if that becomes impossible including Summoner's Egg, Quicksilver Amulet, Guild Feud, etc.

One thing of note: this build is for a playgroup that plays a Modern variant which allows supplemental originals like Command Tower, Opal Palace, Bane of Progress, etc. but not older, non-modern legal reprints like Sol Ring and Demonic Tutor.

How to Play

There are over a dozen enablers for casting Rakdos on turn four, many of which have evasion (flying, intimidate, etc.) Designed for multi-player, There is usually someone that early who does not yet have defenses up regardless, and even a Scarecrone might make it through for the necessary damage. Once Rakdos is on the board it becomes much easier to see why this deck totes so many high cost creatures, especially of the artifact variety. The original build consisted of more Rakdos enablers such as Pulse Tracker, but such cards were terrible late-game draws. I found that cards like Feldon, Scarecrone, Tymeret, and Lyzolda were good at both stages as they are cheap but have abilities that advanced board-states can benefit from. Many people say that BR creature decks suffer from board wipes; however, a brief look at my list will show many deterrents to such shenanigans, including Stalking Vengeance, Mikaeus, Overseer of the Damned, and even Clone Shell and Summoner's Egg, etc.

Deck discussion for Rakdos, Lord of the Eldrazi

I like it it epitomizes everything i love about rakados. Have you considered goblin welder? i just ask because i figure you have one since you have a feldon. Also something worth looking into is hoarding dragon. Which can tutor up your favorite thing for you. Also no other board wipes? all is dust is great but i feel an edh deck without atleast 2 board wipes is a little lacking. I mean i suppose disaster radius is a board wipe, its just that for that cost why not just use garrucks wake?

In addition to All is Dust and Disaster Radius I have both demons that wipe (and an Ugin preordered).

I like your deck, but it seems a little too top heavy with large creatures. Also no mana rocks and echantment/artifact removal. A timely Winter Orb, Meekstone, or Tangle Wire could really set you back. Also a mid or late game Price of Progress is game over for you. A card I play in all my red EDH decks to hose the heavy non basic player. You are correct in stating that Lyzloda, Blood Witch is a very useful Rakdos card. Try making her the General in a persist/wither sacrifice deck as a change of pace. Best of Luck

??? the general is fine. Sure Lyzolda might be able to make a deck that has more consistent mid game, but that is literally a completely different deck that plays more to johnny tendencies than timmy ones.

My play group is primarily holding to a Modern with supplemental original cards restriction, so Meekstone, Tanglewire, and even Winter Orb are all off the radar. Sadly, some great cards like Goblin Welder are out because of our stipulation, too. Additionally, no one plays infinite combos or mana disruption, so the lack of fast mana and heavy reliance on nonbasics, too, is fine. But I totally agree that should someone decide to play something like Burning Earth I would hurt!
