Deck Description

I've played this several times and have really enjoyed it. Let me know what you think!

Sideboard could use some help too...

Update - 10/19/2012
************************************
I played this af the FNM tonight and have updated the decklist below with what I actually played.

-4 Burning Vengeance
+2 Sleep
+2 Mizzum Mortars
+2 Izzet Charm
-1 Faithless Looting
-1 Think Twice

Overall, it did ok. I played 4 rounds and went 2-2.

Here's the play:
0-2 Selesnya Aggro - Restoration Angel, Thragtusk, etc
2-0 White weenie / lifegain
2-0 Jund Aggro - Vexing Devil, Thragtusk, Huntmaster, etc
0-2 Reanimator / Rites - Thragtusk, Zombie, Demon, etc

Sleep was very effective vs aggro decks. But, Thragtusk gains so much life - its hard to compete with both the creatures it geneates and the life gain. Syncopate may help there.

At any rate, in this current iteration - I don't know if it will win a tournament, but it is competitive and fun to play.

Hmm... Syncopate ??

Deck discussion for Izzets Domination

I think you should drop burning vengeance and Faithless looting and silent departure and add ash zealot, izzet charm, mizzium mortars/ cyclonic rift

I think you have too many creatures... Id drop the vexing devils, cut down to 2 talrand, and pick either augur or guttersnipe. Either way you dont use enough instants or sorceries for snipe and talrand to excel... And unsummon would probably be better than silent departure. And mizzium mortars would help too :)

I feel like it's too creature heavy by a decent amount to be as effective as you want. Augur could be replaced with something like thought scour, or desperate ravings. Vexing devil with mizzium mortors or searing spears. etc etc. If I was (which I am not) running an izzet deck with guttersnipe I would be running something so completely different that I don't think I should be commenting on this deck as I am. However if you are curious about my thoughts on a more effective aggressive izzet deck comment I'll check back tomorrow.

I ran a flashback deck up to quite recently, but I got a bit bored of the limited spells you have to chose from. But never the less, I agree with previous comments, you are running too few spells to make it worth your while.

Yeah, I have a tendency to be creature heavy. I really feel more comfortable playing aggro or aggro/control style decks.

I was seeing the vexing devil and pillar of flame as my early answers to the faster aggro decks like zombies. I suppose we could do this:

-4 Vexing Devils
+4 Vapor Snag (Azorious Charm seems even better)

I've also thought about dropping Burning Vengeance too and splashing white. That would give me access to Azorious Charm, Detention Sphere, and Terminus. But, if I do that and start dropping the creatures for control like mizzum mortars - then this deck starts to look a lot like Todd Anderson's RWU control that recently won in Cincinatti and I was really hoping this build could be something more original (like abusing the snipe, taland, or vengeance).

However, winning is also fun and I do appreciate the comments guys. That gives me a lot to think about.

This is probably more like what you guys are looking for. Seemed like adding black made more sense than white.

Have you tried adding Staticaster in the sideboard for Selesnya decks?

you need more instnts and sorceries to make good use of ur talrands and because they are legendary and you can only have 1 in play at a timeid sugest limiting him to 2
heres my izzet guild build if it helps

Actually, I like the consistency of having 4 talrands. So at least for now - if I had to drop anything, it would be the Burning Vengeance and the Vexing Devil. But, you might be able to talk me into a talrands invocation for one or two of those slots!

I also agree that it will probably need several counter spells in the main to protect itself.

Finally, I think Sleep is very powerful and I'd probably use that to stop aggro decks.
