Deck Description

The artifacts learned to repair themselves; death was not an end but merely a new beginning.

DarkSteel Colossus is a bada$$ but he's Eldrazi level expensive. The aim of this deck is to have several methods for getting Colossus onto the battlefield that are Land efficient. You'll need to sacrifice at least one artifact to do this, in most cases. Fortunately you'll have multiple creatures which allow you to retrieve artifacts from the graveyard. We have blue Instants in the deck to be sure we can terminate malicious sorceries our opponent has in store.

How to Play

This deck can be all about getting the Darksteel Colossus out ASAP. This can be accomplished by turn one with Tinker, one artifact, and three land in your starting hand. This is ideal if you know your opponent has nothing which control artifacts or exiles permanents.

In normal play, considering the above caveats, it may be best to get some fodder onto the battlefield first. One will then slowplay, with Tinker in hand and gathering as many Instants as one can find. The point in this scenario is to have Land enough to be able to cast an instant after you cast Tinker. Tinker and have enough land left over to play at least one instant.

However you can get Colossus on the battlefield, Kitesail** will help you to defend against flying creatures.

You should be able to get multiple Junk Diver/Myr Retrievers out fairly soon. These can be used as sacrificial tools or fodder to block against opponents. As long as you have one of these in your Graveyard already, you have a continual supply of cheap creatures to play. Bonus if you can get Etherium Sculptor out early to reduce casting costs and save on Land.

Since this deck revolves around being efficient with Land we need several ways to get to our Darksteel. You may not find Tinkers early in the game. In such an event, you may be able to grab one by casting Cloneshell. As a last resort, Kuldotha Forgemaster offers a more expensive means by which to get to your big, bad Colossus. If you have multiple Junk Diver/Myr Retrievers this isn't even any more costly than the amount of Land to recast them; and that may be mitigated by Etherium Sculptor.

One unfortunate event you may run into is drawing Darksteel Colossus. It is unlikely you will be alive long enough to cast him with Land. This is where Riddlesmith comes in, allowing you to discard draw a card, discard Colossus, and then shuffle Colossus back into your deck.

If you really want to be a jerk to your friends, you can substitute Blightsteel Colossus for Darksteel Colossus. One may also consider adding this so that the opponent has a more difficult time getting rid of cards of a specific name.

Speaking of infect, if the opponent relies on this mechanic, Colossus has it covered. Our main man will absorb all the -1/-1 counters until he's got nothing left to infect. Then he'll just pick himself back up and be ready for action, good as new.

**I'm debating switching out Kitesail for Basilisk collar. Who needs big flying creatures when you have Lifelink and Deathtouch? Once I can get a few, I'll test it out and update this.
