Deck Description

My friends told me that my SIIILLLEEENNNCCCEEE!!! deck is too annoying to play against since I added Isochron Scepters. So I removed Iso, and built this deck for them instead *malicious grin*

Win conditions include:
-- Scooping.
-- Decking via normal card draw (53 turns).
-- Teaming up in multiplayer (Aka, intimidating an opponent into submission. Politics are so fun ^-^)
-- Casting Disruptive Pitmage as a 2/2 beater.
-- Causing players to take damage from paying to prevent my counters.

Huh. Good point :) It's hard to remember cards like that, when you've played with Unsummon for a decade or so :P

At first I was opposed to the idea.. but the more and more I think about it, Winter Orb is just a huge PISS OFF to everybody else. Most likely, anything an opponent can do that's worth a grain of salt, I can undo for just as much or cheaper ^-^

I have an Iso-bounce deck for pissing people off. It uses Aether Burst...which is hate-inducing on a stick =P

I'm currently running this with +2 Unsummon and +4 Soul Barrier until I can get a hold of Sunken Field and Winter Orb. I'm thinking +2 Propaganda in there somewhere too, for multiplayer.

This deck is the unTribe :) When playtesting against myself, Too Many Elf Decks can't even get more than one creature on the board until fifth or sixth turn, and by then /I/ rage quit against myself XD I get this feeling that any deck that runs Isochron will be hate inducing. Even if it's just Lightning Bolts.

Just an idea, but a way to make your isochron's even more annoying would be with Mirrorworks or Prototype Portal. Just imagine all those isochron scepters!

My friend that taught me to play Magic was (at the time) our group's 'annoying blue player'. I think that this is why I enjoy playing against blue :p

rather than mana leak id run just good ol counter spell and maybe you could fit in an aether adept cool card but looks really badass and annoying ughhh hate playing against something like that

well mana leak goes more with the point of the deck (winter orbs, psychic venom, sunken field) so if you have out winter orb, and then you use mana leak there's no way they can pay it, and mana leak only costs 2 as opposed to cancels 3

idk man a lot of the cards are just plain bad, cant you play a white blue deck that uses isocron scepter to much better effect?
ISOCHRON SCEPTER + Counterspell + Rule of Law = win.
Isochron Scepter + Orims Chant = no spells and u take no damage.
ANYWAYS, you need more ways to get out the Scepter, i suggest cards like transmuting Muddle the Mixture.
Then add path to exile, its SOLID, and maybe meddling mage or some wraths..
then add maybe a decent kill condition like Geist of Saint Traft that cant really be targeted or idk what you pick batterskull or something good, thats the fun part.
hope i helped, ik it changes the deck a lot but it makes it loads better :p
i'll try to upload a version, you should check it out :)

have you thought about maybe adding in some white? silence is just plain mean, and you could also add grand abolishers so they can't cast anything on your turn...
also, i would look at adding maybe an azorius chancery... if you only untap 1 land/turn, that land would tap for 2 mana putting you ahead and allowing you to use your scepter every turn!
or you could look into something along the lines of a sol ring. it's not land therefore untaps, and 1 sol ring = 1 scepter. w/ something like that it might even be worth it to add an unwinding clock! xD

I'm always looking at other deck because it gives me great insight to what other people are doing. There is two main weakness to this deck. You assume your opponent will attack. When I 'm playing blue I slow-play it I wait until I have six land and that is normally the sixth or seventh turn. Because I normally play around 50% land. Also when playing against blue I make sure I use cards such as Despise and Praetor's Grasp. With these cardsI would take out your counters or creatures (most likely your creatures). You would be forced to use your counters on these cards. Isochron scepter is good but you only have mana leaks I will pay the extra 3 mana. Once all your Disruptive Pimages are gone I would just roll over you. Really the only way your deck does damage is by creatures. So if someone takes out all your creature than your fucked.

0
Posted 24 December 2011 at 23:27

If he removed Mana Leak for Counterspell, you wouldn't be able to "just pay 3 mana" And anything you did manage to get on the field to kill him with, he could just bounce and then counter with Isochron. In the long haul, if he wins the draw and goes first, you're going to lose by decking out if you happen to get rid of his creatures.

0

If he puts in another counterspell in place of mana leak I will still take them out or force him to counter the spells I am using to take those cards out with. Playing this type of deck he need a minimum of 8 counter spells. And as I said before the main weakness of the deck is that he has no real creature I would just take the only card that can damage me out of his hand and deck. Once I did that I would in effect win the game. I have a black sun in my deck so I wouldn't lose by decking. He needs more creatures in the deck because every time I would go up agains this deck I would just take out that 1/1 he has and that would be all she wrote.

It's "then you're fucked" and quit drinking the haterade, this is a very solid deck.

Don't forget he is also playing Winter orb, so the moment you tap all your lands that's it. If he makes some changes to the deck then yes this deck could possibly lock you out of playing the game.

If you have some, maybe Counterspell, just to make it a flat counter. Beyond that, I love it. XD

Use memory lapse instead of mana leak. Guaranteed counter and kills their draw. This is actually an almost identical copy to an old deck of mine that I tore apart because it wasn't fun to play.

Also, I used u/w for holy day in case they got something out that I couldnt remove fast enough, and had eager cadet as my win condition.

I know this is a casual deck, but if your looking to improve it i would definately splash white. There are a multiple reasons for this, but i will list as few here:

Wall of Denial
Luminarch Ascension
Path to exile
Wrath of god

In my opinion, this opens up new ways to piss people off (An isochron scepter with path to exile anybody?) and adds in luminarch as another (and extremely powerful if left alone (or, with the counters from blue, impossible to get rid of)) win condition, and wrath of god can't be beaten on total board clearance if something goes wrong. Another card to consider is

Panoptic Mirror

As a more expensive (and slower) but more powerful version of isochron. A panoptic with a wrath of god attached will be an instant rage quit from many creature based deck-user

I know this may sound taboo, but you may want to consider jumping to 65 cards. By doing so, if your opponents choose to go first game two(provided you win game one) it's impossible for you to deck out as a result of going second and being a card up(again, provided your opponent has no form of card draw, or no way to force you to draw). It seems worth it to me, at least.

I actually made this deck as a less-lethal version of an iso-chant and mutant caw-blade iso-chant hybrid. Neither deck was playable, because opponents would simply quit. This deck is beatable, and easily so.. for the time that I was running it, it was my annoying blue deck that players would still play against, because they knew it was beatable. And when I did lose, it was much more satisfying than winning with my other iso-chants.

Also, I ran mana leak over a hard counter because I wanted my opponents to choose: pay 3 or let it be countered (and probably bounced). I only ran 4 counters because more than that would bring it back into the fold of "too annoying to want to play against."

doesn't kill very well though--I mean it plays well, but lacks a backbreaking move.
one on one against a fast deck like merfolk, it wouldn't be able to unsummon fast enough, and would just get countered by Force of Wills...
also small decks like this only need one land to operate most of the time so the winter orb could be side boarded for something else.

As I mentioned before, and in a reply to my own deck, this is the "less-lethal" version of my iso-chant deck. It is designed to play, not when I want a victory, but when I want to play an annoying control deck that my opponents have a fair chance to beat if they work for it. I have found that hard tempo/control is boring to play against some friends, because they get no satisfaction from the game. This deck is light control and an abundance of it, designed primarily because it simulates how my hard control decks operate but without the tempo. It is fun to play because those same friends really enjoy defeating it.

with all the bounce you have in the deck, it seems only fitting you find a way to incorporate warped devotion and megrim as an alternate kill mechanism.

What about Fog Bank instead of the wall of tears, it has flying. Also it lacks draw which could put more annoying cards into your hand. Also .... what about Tangle Wire that's another annoying card. Plus counter spells would go great with Isochron Scepter.

Actually there is nog reason to have mana leak there instead of counterspell. It's mono-blue and counterspell is obviously a solid counter for the same amount of mana. I often came to the situation where mana leak just wouldn't cut it and I need a full counter. Fog Bank is also a solid wall, but Wall of Tears seems more fitting for this deck.

I also recommend some sky diamonds. They are relatively cheap mox sapphires and let's you cast for 5 instead of 1 each turn keeping your lands open for countering.

Interesting take on an Iso deck. I don't often see just straight blue with these!

The only thing I would suggest (as others have before is a replacement for Mana Leak:

Counterspell - an obvious upgrade; hard counter, easy to play with mono blue

Remand - card advantage, who cares if it's going back to their hand? You will just keep putting it back there...

Memory Lapse - this is one of the easiest ways to lock someone up with Iso. It would eliminate the decking win-con but honestly, who cares? Memory Lapse until you get a beater or what-have-you out, and profit!

Other than that, this is a pretty solid deck. Check mine out for some possible ideas if you'd like! :)

Also, a couple of card draw spells would be nice, as they always are in blue. I won't bother to tell you which as I'm sure you know haha. Again, I would strongly suggest Remand due to it's dual nature as card draw and annoying counter-bounce!
