Deck discussion for More Modern Weenie

To be honest, I dont have a lot to say about this one... I really like the Tutor-hate going on in here, and Aether Vial plus all of your two-drops (including Serra Avenger) means that, starting at T3, you'll be dropping creatures for almost no mana. The only potential nuance I see missing there is what to spend that mana on... Personally, I would invest in one or a combination of the following:
Silence. Starting T3, start locking down your opponents board using your extra mana from Aether Vial playing your creatures.
Infiltration Lens. Draw into more creatures to spend your mana on, plus, Infiltration Lens + SoFI is just a mean combination no matter how you look at it.
Oblivion Ring. Yay! Here's a plug for the most common and generic white control out there!

Well, there aren't many tutors in Modern, but what it does do is stall Zoo, 12-Post, etc. as well as negate the drawback to Ghost Quarter and Path to Exile, and screw up anybody running fetch lands in mono color aggro or stompy. Ghost Quarter, once again, absolutely messes with Zoo, 12-Post, etc. I've also opened with a few hands with Arbiter and 1 or 2 Ghost Quarter within the first 3 turns. That's some pretty devastating stall already ;) One hand I even drew 3 of the Ghost Quarters by turn 4, but I don't expect to see that happen again any time soon XD

Puresteel Paladin provides excellent card advantage, esp with Flayer Husk also putting a body on the board. I originally had 2x Infiltration Lens and 2x SoLS in there for the proc and creature recursion, but found myself packed tight and wanting to fit Serra Avenger in there. I am still thinking about dropping a Basilisk Collar and ??? something else for the 2x SoLS.

Aether Vial isn't entirely dedicated to rushing out hordes of creatures, though it certainly can. It is included mainly for 1) Serra Avenger, 2) "Flashing" creatures, and 3) anti-counter magic along with Grand Abolisher.

Also just started on the SB with 4x Tec Edge to replace Grand Abolisher against aggro, and LoVoid against Dredge. I don't know how popular Dredge is in modern, so I may or may not drop them once I learn a bit more about the meta.

Thanks for the suggestions ^-^ Glad to hear that in one person's opinion at least, there's not much to change :) It's supposed to be anti-meta / aggro control, which is tough to do when you don't know the meta all that well :P

Yeah I mispoke when I said Tutor. This stalls Fetch-Lands (REALLY annoying for Zoo and 12post like you said), but it also stalls GSZ into Dryad Arbor T1s as well as Rune-Scarred Demon and Diabolic Tutor.

Anyways, I think getting rid of the Basilisk Collar and maybe even a Leonin Arbiter could be the best way to go to drop 2 Lenses in. The only reason I say that is because Aven Mindscensor can help you tutor-stall while you draw into an arbiter with Lenses and SoFI. Thats just my 2-cents though.

And for some reason, that whole Aether Vial flashing thing didnt even occur to me and I dont know why. Its brilliant none-the-less. Honestly i dont think this will work well in here, but it might get some creative juices flowing, but Stonehorn Dignitary SB with Aether Vial means that if they drop something big and nasty like Emrakul or some crap like that, you can flash in Stonehorn to prevent their next attack phase and holdout until you can draw into a PtE. Maybe something to consider, but again, that would be your only 4 cmc creature so you'd practically be wasting Aether Vial to do it =/ Dunno. Might be worth looking into something like that tho.

I just ran a variant of this in casual multiplayer, minus Avenger, Arbiter, Abolisher, Ghost Quarter, and Path, plus SFM, Swords to Plowshares, and a few janky first strike creatures (still working on getting the pieces to finish this). I joined late, sometime around turn 3 against a red deathtouch timmy, black zombies, big green, and vampires. And I /dominated/ ! The red deck could have annihilated me, so part of the victory is due to good politicking.. but still, one of the best matches I've played in a long while ^-^ I <3 this deck!
