Deck Description

With the inclusion of an NPH spell that isn't even Red. Mental Mistep handles early game counters to Kuldotha Red, perhaps most detrimental are other Mental Misteps, as well as other tricky cards like Marrow Shards and other aggro.

Also added, Slag Fiend fits the bill as a simple 1/1 for 1, but can also follow a board wipe to enter the battlefield as a relatively large creature, depending upon how many artifact creatures my opponent and I controlled pre-wipe.

Deck discussion for NPH Kuldotha Red

i would take out surgical extraction
here is why: http://www.channelfireball.com/articles/in-development-how-to-waste-two-life-at-instant-speed/

also, noxious revival is a great card, but why put it in an aggro deck just to waste 2 life playing it? and you only get to draw it next turn, it removes a card for 2 life to get you a card you already played a turn later (granted I love this card, but not in this deck)

mental mistep i can understand, so ok

i would remove those 4 cards and put in something that helps the deck more instead with its goal of winning quickly, like maybe a bushwacker

I agree with you on both accounts. They're sideboard cards, not main-deck. I'd made that consideration after I closed MTG Vault, but by then I had to go back to homework. Honestly though, I only thought about removing Noxious Revival altogether, and moving only Surgical Extraction. It is a card that I still want to keep in my sideboard, despite the article's nay-saying, and then only because it is the only way (with red) to completely neuter some of the other aggro competition in my local meta (another KDR and 2 vamp decks with Bloodghast), and can be circumstantially beneficial against some of my other competition.

fair enough, and yes i do still believe it is a good card, but sideboard is the place I would put it really, best used against combo decks which are non-existant in sta... oh wait nope, pyrotwin, keep it for that match up :P lol

Well, Twin is getting pretty popular. I don't know how long it'll stick around for, though.

Also made another variant with more emphasis on Slag Fiend, running 4x Panic Spellbombs. I'm not really a fan of running more than two or three.. but we'll see. Let me know what you think?
