Deck Description

My version of the popular Grixis Tezz deck.

** Changes:
The adjustments i made are adding in the Kuldotha Forgemasters to sac random artifacts i have in play to get out Myr Battlesphere, then sac 3 of those tokens on the next turn to get out Blightsteel Colossus. Depending on what's sided in you could also get Thoppter Assembly or Wurmcoil Engine, or even your Contagion Engine.

Also, the single Contagion Engine will keep your Mana artifacts, Tumble Magnets and Planeswalkers with fresh counters on them, as well as bombing the hell out of your opponent's creatures. Again, you can even make this a creature with Tezz, bounce it to your hand with Jace and play it again if you need to slam some -1/-1 counters on your opponent's creatures. Black Sun's Zenith helps this along nicely as well, plus gives you an extra shuffle when Jace runs into nothing but land late game.

I also changed around the coutnerspells in this deck. I added 2 Spell Pierce and only 1 Stoic Rebuttal since there's going to be a ton of artifacts being sacrificed.

** Sideboard:
I like the idea of siding in Gravitational Shift and Thopter Assembly vs Caw-Go! decks because once you wipe out their hawks, you have your own flying thopter army that gets +2/+0 to beat face with. Add in the other Slagstorm and Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek and you've got some nice tools to combat the sword wielding Squadron Hawk deck.

Another nice trick would be to just turn the "Sword of Whatever and Whatever" into an artifact creature with Tezz. Sure, you gave them a 5/5 creature, but it can't be equipped anymore and you can bounce it with Jace if it worries you too much and set it up for that counterspell you didn't have before.

** Possible card swaps / Ideas:
Any 6+ cast for - Mindslaver, Platinum Angel, Platinum Emperion.

1 Sphere of the Suns or 1 Prophetic Prism or 1 Contagion Engine for - Sword of Body and Mind, Sword of Feast and Famine, Bonehoard.

Deck discussion for Omni Tezz (FNM)

So far in testing, these are my results out of a best of 3 match.

Caw-Blade: 2-1
Valakut: 2-0
Boros: 2-1
Kuldotha Red: 2-0
B/U Control: 1-2
Vampires: 2-1
Elf Vine: 2-0
Quest ww: 2-1

Not a bad record so far. I'm still unsure if I need to have 3 Forgemasters or if 2 is what the deck really wants.

I like this version better because it has a little more survivability and options than Chapin's version. You don't even NEED to spring the forgemasters for it to be good. They're just in case you need an "over the top" strategy to pull you through a game.

I like this version, but I must say I prefer the UB version for mana consistency. But trust me when I say this: Ratchet Bomb is the real deal and you really should be playing more of 'em.

Thanks for the comment! I do love me some ratchet bomb action. I use 3 in my U/W Control deck and they're great!

I may have to try them out with a mix of Pyroclasm and Slagstorm. Maybe I can remove the Black sun's zenith for it? hmmm..

I've also been seriously contemplating mainboarding Duress. It's just too great in those situations where you can't afford your play to be countered.

I may have to try a U/B version and see if I like it as much as I like this one.

Esper with Gideon, Venser and Tempered steel sounds tempting too, but idunno.
