Totally a possibility. The Warstorm surge was just a funny option which was hopefully covered by spheres :D
Tried this yesterday with 2 rampant growths and extra island and a mountain, was really fun. Sometimes it was a tad slow but mainly because I didnt mulligan some pretty poor hands ramp wise in favour of starting with a multiple splicers and parallel lives in hand. Warstorm surge is totally worth the mountain as memniteboy said, got around an eldrazi spawn defender/lifegain deck that my golems couldn't get through lol.
