Makes sense. The problem is, though, he also costs 4 mana, and his mana gain is based on lands. For him to be effective, you need more than 4 lands, and more than 4 lands means you're getting your combo out turn 5, assuming you even draw him (rather unlikely with only 1 copy). I see what you're going for, I just don't really think he's the optimal choice.
