Deck Description

Basing the idea off of something I saw on MTG. Modern.
Grand Architect and Pili-Pala generate infinite mana for my X burn spells, or allow me to flash in Jin to annoy my opponent, or steal EVERYTHING they control with Memnarch. Depending on how I'm feeling. And of course, Myr Superion can be cast, so, keeping it in the Sideboard.

Deck discussion for Grand Pili-Pala

Have you thought about Fire Whip? It might work well with Pilli-Pala.

It's Modern, not sure if Fire Whip is Modern is it? Also, Not really sure it would work. If it was something like "Whenever enchanted creature tapped, ~ deals 1 damage to target creature or player." That'd work, but thanks anyway :)

- Ponder is banned in Modern
- It's very hard to go off on a 2 creature combo as most decks in Modern pack a lot of burn spells or at least enough spot removal to break your combo at least once. Once is enough to get you killed as you don't have much defense to slow them down.

Thought it was Preordain that was banned in Modern, not Ponder.

both were banned

You can always google the banned list it if you are unsure. If you take this to a tournament you'll be disqualified.

Hi there. Nice looking deck! I know one card that I think this deck is missing. Blue Sun's Zenith is going to be a lot better than Mind Spring in this type of deck because you can use it to draw or you can use it as a win condition by making your opponent draw their entire deck.

I agree that this deck is a little too geared torward your combo. I don't think you really need 4 banefire and 4 comet storm. Once you get your infinite mana combo you only need one of them to win the game so cut 4 of them. Maybe 2 and 2 would be a nice trade off, one is instant but the other can't be countered.

Also like Setherial said this deck will fall flat if the combo is disrupted so consider putting in some alternatives. 4 Spellskite could help a lot.

Personally I can think of a few other cards I would rather ramp into play other than Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. Especially considering its legendary and it cost so much you will never get to play it without your combo. How about a few other guys like Consecrated Sphinx or Frost Titan.

I have a deck with the pili-pala combo that uses infect creatures as a back up plan and ramps into Blightsteel Colossus. The link is below if you are interested. I had never thought about Memnarch in this deck untill now so I added one to my build. Thanks for the good idea and good luck with your deck.!

You are right with the BSZ that I can mill out the opponent.
I used to love infect, but now, got burned it out so much by it that my distaste has grown.
I like Jin in there, he's a funny thing to annoy people with if I don't have the card draw to get to my Banefire or Comet Storm.
The Memnarch wasn't my idea, a friend suggested it and it really works amusingly.
The Leyline means that my Banefire can be flashed in but I will replace the Mind Spring with BSZ.
Thank you for your kind comment and advice. :)
