There are three "themes" I'm working with on this deck. First and foremost, is mad science. I like those cards that have a feeling of mad science, which is why I'm going with the Simic guild. Second, I want as many creatures as possible. Limiting the non-creature spells to a maximum of 10. And even then, I want spells that are helping keep the creatures coming. Wild Pair, Lurking Predators, etc. Finally, after playing Magic for a while I have found that my playstyle leads to large buildups of creatures. So why not play creatures that thrive on being together. But Elves and Allies don't fit in with theme number 1. So what does? You guessed it: Slivers! The group I play with has a large number of different decks. The most common Commanders are Rafiq of the Many, Kami of the Crescent Moon, Brion Stoutarm, Nin, the Pain Artist, Mayael the Anima, and Phelddagrif. Phelddagrif is only mildly Group Hug - mostly flyer stompy, Nin, the Pain Artist is instant-rebound-Sphinx-Bone Wand combo, Mayael is board-wipe stompy, Rafiq is heavy equipment and enchantment, Brion is lifegain with Felidar Sovereign and Kami is control, life-gain and mill. I have a moderate but not unreasonable budget. Nothing over 20 dollars, please.
