Tried my best for an extremely cheap competitive modern deck. I doubt that this deck will be able to win a FNM tournament (going up against people who google the best modern decks), but the hopes is that it will at least win some games.Also, I was inspired by a deck-tech I've seen on youtube, where this guys created a mono-green infect + wild defiance.
Try to get out many small creatures, so that when you attack your opponent can't block them all. Then use primal bellow to pump those that weren't blocked. I chose blessings of nature instead of revenge of the hunted because with wild defiance it can trigger the +3/+3 bonus on up to 4 creatures, getting 16 power for the turn.So in a nutshell: pump up the creatures that were not blocked, then use mercy killing before they turn back to 1/1.Ideal hand:Turn 1: ForestTurn 2: Forest + Sheltering ancientTurn 3: Forest + Wild defianceTurn 4: Forest + primal bellow on sheltering ancient, then Mercy killingTurn 5: Contested war zone, then attack with your twelve elvesSideboard:-Fresh meat: counter the sweepers-Leyline of vitality: against cards that do 1 damage to all creatures, plus it gives you a fair amount of life-Pit fight: Obviously can be used to take care of annoying creatures, but if you have wild defiance, hornet nest and a 1/1 on the battlefield, you can make the two creatures fight each other: neither one dies and you get four 1/1 tokens with flying and death touch.
