Yo, I found a way to actually copy Progenitus without any rule infringement.

Check it out:

Actually read the end of it, It took me so long to write that that you posted your comments while I was writing it. Haha.

The deck isn't junk, it's just in need of some tweaking.

You do realize that you put Akroma, Angel of Fury (the one with prot blue, but morph) in here instead of Angel of Wrath (the better one, but no morph) and in your description it states Wrath, but if you had wrath you couldn't play it using Dermoplasm.

Also Thanks to the Prot Blue of Fury you can't enchant it with followed footsteps (or any creature copying it) since as soon as it turns over the enchantment fizzles off so the shapeshifter must remain facedown.

When the shapeshifter is facedown and has followed footsteps on it, the tokens generated are 2/2 nameless and colorless creature tokens, NOT copies of the shapeshifter facedown. This is what it says on the MTG main site:

Q: How does Followed Footsteps work with morph? --Brad

A: You'll get a 2/2 creature with no name and no abilities. The morph effect doesn't apply to these "vanilla" creatures.

Also 2 Rulings for you (these are legit and striaght from the cards image on this site):

If another creature copies Vesuvan Shapeshifter while it's face up, the new creature will become a copy of whatever Vesuvan Shapeshifter is copying and gain the "you may turn this creature face down" ability. It won't gain morph {1}{U}. If that creature is then turned face down, its copy effect will continue and it'll be a face-down version of whatever it's copying. If the creature it's copying has morph, it can be turned face up. If the creature it's copying doesn't have morph, it's stuck face down forever unless some other effect (like Break Open) turns it face up again

If Vesuvan Shapeshifter copies a face-down creature, it becomes a face-up 2/2 colorless nameless creature with no abilities other than the one it gives itself.

Sorry but the rules are the rules, and prot blue and morph rules trump getting tokens of the Angel. The major problem is that you can't copy the shapeshifter itself when it is face up without giving it +1/+1 since it will die. Find a way (there are TONS) to give your creature +1/+1 permanently and you can keep the original shapeshifter as a shapeshifter since all its abilities say "may" it will not die due to the +1/+1 and when you make copies of it they will be shapeshifters which can copy the angel.

Sorry this is so long, but many people believe in their combos so much that you have to PROVE that it doesn't work, this WILL WORK if you follow the end of this comment.

May want to work on your land base. Having 16 lands in a deck like this is a tad dangerous in this deck since you need so many different colors. You may want to include the cycling lands so that way if you are stuck with lands you can get rid of them, or use spells with retrace so the lands can help you out.
It looks like a solid prot deck aside from early game, that's when you need to be careful.Including some low cost blockers might be an option to help you stop early attack (if you don't get the prison).

Oh... found another one, specific to this EXACT case. A rule just for Progenitus...

# 502.7i - "Protection from everything" is a variant of the protection ability. A permanent with protection from everything has protection from each object regardless of that object's characteristic values. Such a permanent can't be targeted by spells or abilities, enchanted by Auras, equipped by Equipment, fortified by Fortifications, or blocked by creatures, and all damage that would be dealt to it is prevented. Oh and by stated quality it means what it has protection from, so in this case... everything.

Sorry ANON:
Rule book:
502.7c - A permanent or player with protection can't be enchanted by Auras that have the stated quality. Such Auras attached to the permanent with protection will be put into their owners' graveyards as a state-based effect.

Add goblin Chieftan from M10, gives all goblins +1/+1 and haste for 3 mana.

Add that amazing for lifelink card from M10 that has the ability: "Whenever you gain life your opponent looses that much life" suddenly all your lifelinkers are doing twice the damage. I think it's called Sanguine Bond.

Oh, to answer the question I posed above... Baron Singir. Also may want to look at the 2010 vamps, Child of Night is 2 mana for a 2/1 Lifelink Vamp, which is great early game.

You're going to make everything vamps and not have Vampire Nocturnus from M10... FOR SHAME. It isn't a great card but it's perfect here. if the top card of your library is black all vamps get +2/+1 and flying. What could be better for a mono-black vampire deck?

Don't worry about making copies of Progenitus, if you have it out, you should win. It can't be blocked or targeted, ergo, if it's out the game should end in your favor, with or without copies of it.

Add Filter lands in place of some of your basic lands and in place of the soul's fire add cryptic command, it's not cheap but it's worth it and Lorwyn isn't cycling out for a while since 10th is going out for M10 and M10 JUST comes out in 2 days. No worries.

yoyosnowman - Read the Description, all of it. I filled the 4 slots with Glacial Fortress, the land that isn't in the database yet. Also the sideboarded mages and hindering lights take care of most creature control. I have a lot of counter abilities and the steel doesn't NEED to go on Adept, it can go on anyone almost and is still pretty deadly.

1danny_boi1 - While deepchannel mentor DOES do as you say it also costs 6 mana which is a bit high for this deck. Balmgivers make things unblockable too but only cost 3. It's not a bad card, I just don't like paying 6 for a 2/2.

Add guilty conscience for stuffy. I know everyone says that about stuffy decks but it's a 2 card inf damage combo, who wouldn't want that? Run Seeting Song so you can play stuffy turn 3. If you add rite of flame you can do it turn 1 (if you have 2 in your hand) with song.
How funny would this be:
Turn 1: Mountain, Rite of flame to play desperate ritual to play seething song to play stuffy
Turn 2: Plains, Conscience, TAP FTW.

Check out M10, the made Terror BETTER, it can target artifact creatures!

This deck looks interesting, look at M10 to see if there are any better black or red control spells. (They Reprinted LIGHTNING BOLT)

I only see the lorescale getting big when you draw what about cards like Meddling Mage? Thought Hemorrhage? Cranial Extraction? Maelstrom Pulse? for just a few cards that would put a damper on things. You may want some counter abilities since you're playing blue to stop these cards.

Growth chamber is a horrible land, not to mention that it is the only thing keeping this from being standard legal. Use something along the lines of Flooded Grove.

Oh yeah, to make this standard legal (if you care) the gateway has to come out anyway, so definitely add more mana accel in that case.

Just saying, since you love mirrorweave so much, ashenmore gouger LOVES mirrorweave, if you have 5 creatures, you win. Maybe that for another deck.

This deck looks interesting. I would suggest some of the kick ass new dual lands for this deck to help your type odds a bit. Sideboard 3 Doors just in case your playing against a tribal deck (that can get messy). You will need some mana accel aside from shard convergence, gateway is nice but it's a 5 drop and requires that you already have 2 dragons on the field. Add BOP, overgrowth, and rampant growth. If you have some cash lying around you can go for Sarkhan Vol and Garruk Wildspeaker, to help with haste & power and mana accel turn 2, 3, or 4. Vol is a great card and his price has dropped to about $15, which, while a pain, is much better than his original $35. and you can get the M10 Garruk for about $13 online pre-order now, so it isn't too bad.
